Clarkson’s Farm newcomer Harriet Cowan launches career outside Amazon hit

Since its debut in 2021, Clarkson’s Farm has captured audiences worldwide with its candid, often hilarious look at Jeremy Clarkson’s attempts to run his 1,000-acre farm in Chadlington, near Chipping Norton. The series has turned a number of the people working alongside Clarkson into household names. Among them are farmhand Kaleb Cooper, who quickly became a fan favourite for his no-nonsense advice, land agent Charlie Ireland, Clarkson’s partner Lisa Hogan, and Gerald Cooper, the lovable yet often unintelligible head of security.

In season four, viewers were introduced to a new personality on the farm—Derbyshire farmer Harriet Cowan. She stepped in to help manage the farm while Kaleb was away on tour, and it didn’t take long for her to win over fans. Harriet’s warmth, easygoing humour, and impressive knowledge of farming practices made her stand out, as did the natural rapport she developed with Clarkson himself.

Now, Harriet has announced she is branching out on her own with a new project—a YouTube channel titled Harriet on the Farm. The channel will officially launch on August 31 with her first video, which she teased will be a Q&A session based on questions sent in by fans. In a hint that viewers can expect more than just lighthearted chatter, Harriet suggested the episode “may or may not have some juicy details in there.”

Speaking about the decision, Harriet opened up about the career change that has led her to farming content creation. “It’s true. I am no longer nursing because it appears I got the bug—the farming bug. And I’ve always had it. Before, I didn’t really have any other incomes, but now things have changed.”

She added that the encouragement from her growing fan base played a huge role in the decision. “A few months ago, I put out a video talking about me starting on YouTube. The general census was [to do it]. So the wait is over—Harriet on the Farm is coming your way on August 31.”

While Harriet admitted she hasn’t fully decided on the format of her videos, she said much of the content will depend on whatever is happening on the farm at the time. “I haven’t quite worked out how I’m going to do vlogs, but I think it will all depend on what’s happening on the farm at that moment. For now, the first video is going live on August 31.”

Meanwhile, filming for series five of Clarkson’s Farm is currently underway. However, it has not yet been confirmed whether Harriet will be returning as part of the cast. Fans of the show will no doubt be hoping she makes an appearance, but in the meantime, her YouTube debut promises to give them a new way to follow her farming journey.
