Clarkson’s Farm takes filming break as Kaleb Cooper hints at solo spin-off

Jeremy Clarkson and Kaleb Cooper are the stars of Clarkson’s Farm

Clarkson’s Farm has officially wrapped filming on its highly anticipated fifth series — and now the hit Amazon Prime show is set for a pause after seven years of cameras following life on Jeremy Clarkson’s Cotswolds farm.

The news has left fans eager to know what’s next, and while Jeremy confirmed the show will be resting for the foreseeable future, one of its breakout stars is already eyeing up an exciting new chapter of his own.

Kaleb Cooper, the young farmer who has become Jeremy’s indispensable right-hand man since the show launched in June 2021, revealed he would love to step into the spotlight with his own farming series.

Speaking to The Sun at this year’s National Television Awards, Kaleb admitted:
“Hopefully one day. Who knows. I think there’s so much more to show about farming and the life behind it. Jeremy’s story has been brilliant, but maybe one day I’ll get to tell mine too.”

But not every member of the Clarkson’s Farm team is keen to be front and centre. Jeremy’s farming agent and close adviser Charlie Ireland — affectionately dubbed “Cheerful Charlie” by Clarkson thanks to his knack for delivering grim financial truths and complicated regulation updates — laughed off the idea of his own spin-off.

He joked: “No, not for me. I’d just be doing my spreadsheets and making pie charts. I’m not sure that makes for great telly!”

Over the past four years, both Kaleb and Charlie have gone from local names to household favourites. Kaleb in particular has captured viewers’ hearts with his blunt one-liners, fierce dedication to farming, and constant exasperation at Jeremy’s larger-than-life approach to agriculture.

Despite his growing fame, Kaleb has remained grounded in the Cotswolds, where he still works full-time managing Clarkson’s Diddly Squat Farm. But he confessed that owning a farm of his own still feels like a distant dream due to sky-high property and land prices in the region.

He explained: “I live in the Cotswolds and it’s just massively expensive there. But hopefully one day I’ll get my own farm. I just need time. We’ve finished filming but the farm work never stops — you don’t get to press pause when you’re a farmer.”

People have applauded Kaleb Cooper following his confession about holidays

Meanwhile, Jeremy himself was in high spirits after Clarkson’s Farm scooped Best Factual Entertainment at the NTAs. Taking to the stage at London’s O2, the 64-year-old broadcaster used his speech to once again highlight the challenges facing Britain’s farming industry.

“Farming is a difficult job and I appreciate the way people are going, ‘I didn’t know where my sausages came from’,” he said. “You don’t love farming — you love moments of it. It is really tricky right now. Farmers work so hard for no money so it’s delightful that people recognise a farming show can beat a house cleaning show. We shall go and have a drink.”

With Clarkson’s Farm now taking a breather, speculation will no doubt build over what lies ahead for Kaleb, Charlie, and the rest of the Diddly Squat Farm crew. And while Jeremy might be ready for a well-earned rest, it seems his young apprentice could soon be ready to take the reins on his own.
