Matt Baker’s sweet three-word response as Jeremy Clarkson welcomes ‘adorable’ new arrival to farm

Matt Baker is also a dog lover

Clarkson’s Farm star Jeremy Clarkson has introduced fans to the newest member of his family at Diddly Squat Farm — and viewers can’t get enough of the adorable new arrival.

The Prime Video presenter, 65, has faced a turbulent few months after confirming that his Oxfordshire farm had suffered a TB outbreak. The news left him with some difficult decisions and plenty of stress, but Clarkson was clearly in much higher spirits this week as he delighted his 9.5 million Instagram followers with a heartwarming update.

Sharing a candid snap from his farm in Chipping Norton, the former Top Gear host cradled a tiny golden puppy in his arms. The picture, which quickly went viral, was simply captioned: “Meet Margarey.”

Within minutes, the comments section was flooded with messages of love and support from fans. “Nothing more beautiful than a puppy,” one follower gushed, while another declared: “So much cuteness!” Dozens more called the pup “sweet,” “adorable,” and a “little darling,” with one fan summing up the mood perfectly: “Oh my heart… the fluff.”

The new addition even caught the eye of fellow television personality and Our Farm in the Dales star Matt Baker, who dropped into the comments to write: “What a beauty.” Baker, himself a dog lover, knows the joy a puppy can bring, as he shares his home with miniature dachshund Ivy, Border Collie Bob, and Cairn Terrier Fergus.

Jeremy Clarkson shared the happy news

Of course, Clarkson’s followers were also quick to notice the puppy’s unusual name. “Margarey,” they pointed out, continues the star’s tradition of naming his dogs after characters from Game of Thrones. His beloved labradors Sansa and Arya were also named after strong female leads from George R.R. Martin’s fantasy series, and fans couldn’t resist chiming in with jokes about the theme.

“Great name,” one fan wrote approvingly, while another teased: “Will there be a Joffrey too?” Someone else quipped: “The Tyrell family always had good looks haha,” in reference to Margarey Tyrell, the character played by Natalie Dormer in the hit HBO series.

The cheerful announcement comes just a month after Clarkson shared far sadder news. In August, he and partner Lisa Hogan revealed that one of their puppies, Mr Grey, had tragically passed away. Hogan posted an emotional video showing the heartbroken mother dog alongside her remaining litter, telling followers: “Sad news this morning. Mr Grey has gone to fur and feather land. Poor Mr Grey, I’m sorry darling.”

Fans who had sympathized with Clarkson and Hogan during that difficult time were especially overjoyed to see a new puppy bringing happiness back to the family. Many said the timing made the arrival of Margarey feel even more special.

Baker, too, has spoken openly about the grief of losing a beloved pet. Earlier this year, he paid tribute to his Labrador Annie, telling fans: “I’m sure you’ll agree the reason we all love our dogs so much is because the only time they break our hearts is when they leave us.”

For Clarkson, the new arrival seems to mark a brighter chapter at Diddly Squat. While farming continues to test him with unexpected challenges — from animal disease to environmental setbacks — his candid updates about life on the farm have made him a relatable figure to millions of viewers around the world.

And for fans of Clarkson’s Farm, Margarey already looks set to become a scene-stealer in her own right. As one follower put it: “She’s adorable — please tell me she’ll be on the show!”

Clarkson’s Farm is available to stream now on Prime Video, while Matt Baker’s Our Farm in the Dales is free to watch on the Channel 4 website.
