Jeremy Clarkson wows fans as he shows off weight loss amid lifestyle overhaul after heart operation
Jeremy Clarkson has opened up about an unexpected — and rather embarrassing — complication he’s faced after his dramatic recent weight-loss journey, which has been aided in part by the weight-loss and diabetes jab Mounjaro.
The 65-year-old Clarkson’s Farm, Top Gear, and Grand Tour star has spent the last year making major lifestyle changes. Living on his 1,000-acre Diddly Squat Farm in Chipping Norton, he has documented much of his health journey publicly, especially following the emergency heart surgery he underwent at Oxford’s John Radcliffe Hospital. The procedure, prompted by sudden chest pains, became a major wake-up call for Clarkson and sparked a more serious commitment to improving his long-term health.
Since then, Clarkson has embraced a healthier diet, cut back on unhealthy habits, and began using Mounjaro, which he has credited for helping him lose around two stone. His slimmer appearance has been widely noted by fans and viewers — but now, Clarkson says he’s discovered a surprising downside to his transformation.
While preparing to set off on holiday, Clarkson took to Twitter/X to reveal a problem he “never saw coming.” He described the moment that airport security required him to remove his belt before entering the body scanner — a standard procedure for passengers. But with far less weight around his waist than before, the belt was apparently doing more work than he realised.
“Mounjaro problem I never saw coming,” he wrote.
“At airports you’re made to remove your belt and then told to stand in the body scanner with your arms in the air.
So you can’t hold your trousers up.”
The humorous confession paints a vivid picture: Clarkson, arms raised, trousers threatening to slide south, unable to do anything about it. Fans quickly responded with laughter, sympathy, and plenty of jokes of their own, with some saying they had experienced the exact same issue after major weight loss.
This isn’t Clarkson’s first public wardrobe mishap since shedding the pounds. At the National Television Awards, where Clarkson’s Farm won Best Factual Entertainment Show, Clarkson had to acknowledge his suddenly unreliable trousers in front of millions of viewers.
During his acceptance speech, he quipped:
“I should explain I’m on Mounjaro — my trousers are falling down.”
His partner Lisa Hogan stood at his side, discreetly holding onto his waistband to prevent a full-scale disaster. Clarkson joked further, saying:
“Lisa’s going to hold my trousers up whilst I make a very short speech.”
The moment instantly went viral, with fans praising both Hogan’s quick thinking and Clarkson’s ability to poke fun at himself.
Beyond the comedy, his candidness has struck a chord with viewers who appreciate his openness about ageing, health scares, weight changes, and the complexities of adjusting to new routines. While the farming mogul seems pleased with his progress, he clearly hasn’t lost the sharp humour that has made him a household name for decades.
And if his trousers continue giving him trouble, Clarkson will no doubt turn the next mishap into yet another story to amuse the world.
