Kelvin Fletcher’s wife Liz cries ‘oh no’ as they receive devastating news on farm

‘Kelvin and Liz Fletcher were left feeling emotional after a vet delivered some heartbreaking news about one of their cows in the upcoming episode of Fletcher’s Family Farm

Kelvin and Liz Fletcher received devastating news in the forthcoming instalment of Fletcher’s Family Farm, set to broadcast on Sunday. The ex-Emmerdale actor was informed by a vet that one of their cherished cows had lost her calf.

It proved to be a mixed experience for the pair, as they simultaneously learnt that their other cow was expecting.

Prior to the vet’s arrival, Liz confessed she was feeling anxious. She said, “We’ve got the cows in. We’re going to pregnancy test them.

“It’s a little bit nerve-racking, whether it’s worked, whether he’s done his job, or whether he’s just been rolling around the field having a nice time. I’m hoping he’s been busy.”

Cherry was first to undergo scanning, and as the veterinary surgeon began examining her, he confirmed, “It’s a bit nerve-racking. Yeah. So I’m just scanning around both sides of a uterus, and there is a calf in there,” reports the Express.

“Yes,” Kelvin responded enthusiastically as the vet went on, “So you’ve got one pregnancy there, all looking healthy. That’s a healthy calf there.”

Addressing her children, Liz said, “She is having a baby.”

The veterinary surgeon informed them that the unborn calf was approximately seven weeks along and measured three centimetres.

Kelvin added, “Have a quick look there, guys, what a special moment to share with your kids.”

Nevertheless, when Ruby’s examination took place, the vet broke some distressing news to the farming couple. “Okay, not quite so good news now, Kelvin, I’m afraid,” the vet explained.

“Strangely, she actually seems to have a uterus infection, which is most likely, she has been pregnant and she had a miscarriage.”

“Oh no,” Liz said emotionally as the vet went on, “So we’re gonna have to give her an injection to clear that out. The longer you leave it untreated, the higher the chance of them not getting in calf, basically.”

Kelvin shared, “I mean, it’s disappointing. So, yeah, it’s a shame. The main priority is to get it sorted and treated. So we’re gonna give her an injection now that’ll treat her.

“There is some good news. The miscarriage does prove that Ruby is fertile, and once recovered, we’ll be able to run her with a bull.”

Fletcher’s Family Farm airs on Sunday at 11.30am on ITV.
