Jeremy Clarkson Admits He Feared His Career Was Over — Until One Farm Changed Everything

Since 2021, the former Top Gear star has been documenting his trials and tribulations of adapting to country life in Clarkson’s Farm.

For the past four years, Prime Video fans have watched Jeremy Clarkson tackle many projects while running Diddly Squat Farm on his beloved show. This comes after he recently made an emotional statement.

Clarkson’s Farm became an instant hit with people when it aired in 2021, as they saw the hilarious obstacles and mishaps the former Top Gear star faced while trying to manage his place in the Cotswolds.

Along the way, Jeremy has received help from the likes of Kaleb Cooper, Charlie Ireland, Gerald Cooper, Harriet Cowan and his partner Lisa Hogan, who have all become beloved characters on the show.

However, his long-term producer Andy Wilman revealed Jeremy didn’t think he’d ever have a hit again after he left the BBC motoring show.

Appearing on Wednesday’s instalment of The Chris Moyles Show on Radio X, Andy shared that they never saw the programme coming.

He said: “That was absolutely out of the blue. Jeremy never thought he was going to have another hit, you know? We were done.”

As Dominic Byrne highlighted how much of a good show it is, Andy explained they had a deal with Amazon for Grand Tours where they made them carry on working for them, which resulted in solo projects.

He continued: “Jeremy went, ‘I want to do life on my farm.’ And if I had a quid for every exec who rang me and went, ‘Can you talk him out of that?'”

Admitting he called the TV star to explain that no one wanted him to do a show about life on his Farm, Jeremy confessed he didn’t blame people for trying to talk Andy out of it.

Andy shared that Jeremy was nervous as he thought it might be ‘the most boring thing’, the characters on Clarkson’s Farm made a huge change to the success.

He added: “We didn’t see that cast coming.”

Due to the success of Clarkson’s Farm, it’s resulted in Kaleb landing his own programme which he’s currently filming in Australia.

The new four-episode series on Prime Video will see the TV star swap Chipping Norton for life down under.

Speaking about the upcoming show, he said: “I spend most of my time with the most travelled man in the world, so I got brave and booked my first ever flight to see what all the fuss was about. Australia here I come!

“And Australia, you’ll be gaining a new farmer for a couple of months as I discover if I can make my farming contracting business go international.”

Clarkson’s Farm is available to watch on Prime Video. Tune into The Chris Moyles Show on Radio X weekdays from 6:30am – 10am and on Global Player
