Person Says Clarkson Hit Them, But It’s Their Reaction That Sent Brother Into Fury
Piers Morgan shared insights into a dramatic incident that occurred at The British Press Awards in 2004 and how he “enraged” his army colonel brother with his response
Piers Morgan has revealed that he “enraged” his army colonel brother with his reaction to Jeremy Clarkson striking him in the head. During a recent interview, the outspoken Piers Morgan Uncensored presenter was questioned about whether he and Jeremy had genuinely engaged in a “feud”.
Piers confirmed it had occurred before asserting that a mark on his forehead resulted from when Clarkson “punched” him. The situation began when Jeremy was wed to his former wife, Frances Cain, and had supposedly requested that Piers (who was then-editor of the Daily Mirror) refrain from publishing photographs of him with another woman.
Nevertheless, Piers allegedly went ahead and published them anyway. Piers detailed how the dramatic confrontation took place at The British Press Awards in 2004.
But he also maintains that he delivered a bold retort to the Clarkson’s Farm presenter, a taunt that his child struck him “harder than that”.
He told Best magazine: “It was only when he hit me for the third time, I said, ‘Is that it? My three-year-old hits me harder than that’, and he also broke his little finger hitting my head.”
Piers alleged that Jeremy’s finger continues to be “disfigured and mashed up” following the attack. He also admitted that he didn’t retaliate against the former Top Gear host, which left his brother “absolutely enraged”.
He continued: “It was a bit like Colin Firth and Hugh Grant in the fountain scene in Bridget Jones’ Diary. A couple of drunk men slapping each other around, and it was absolutely pathetic. I didn’t hit him back because I was sober.
“My brother was an army colonel, and he was absolutely enraged that I’d just allowed Clarkson to hit me, and I hadn’t hit him back. I told them I didn’t want to get the sack, and then I got fired three weeks later. “.
The duo have since apparently made peace, according to Piers, following a decade of “abusing each other”.
Jeremy, meanwhile, previously spoke about the altercation in 2022.

Writing in The Times, he said: “‘Why’s your f****** wife looking at me like that?’ he [Piers Morgan] thundered. So I punched him. And then I punched him again.”
Jeremy claimed he didn’t believe it would “ever get boring”, so he “punched him again”, but “annoyingly” for him, he wound up breaking his finger during the scuffle.
This comes after reports that Piers recently offered an apology on This Morning following a live on-air expletive. During a discussion with Ashley James regarding the patriarchy, he uttered the word “bulls**t”.
He swiftly acknowledged his blunder, placing his hand over his mouth before delivering an apology.
Addressing the camera directly, he stated: “Sorry! I’d like to apologise for what the guest just said live on air.
“We are a live programme, we apologise for Mr Morgan and he won’t be invited back for at least three weeks.”
In reply, presenter Ben Shephard stated: “I think it might be longer”.
