Jeremy Clarkson’s Diddly Squat Under Threat as Urbanites Set Their Sights on the Farm
Jeremy Clarkson has expressed his concerns for the future of farming as he discussed the challenges facing Diddly Squat Farm following the government’s U-turn on the family farm tax, which raised the threshold at which the tax becomes payable from £1 million to £2.5 million.
Writing in his column for The Sun, Clarkson stated: “Let’s not forget that half of all farms in the UK will still be hit”, warning that farms will be purchased by hedge-funders and “City types” who lack farming expertise.
He continued: “Farming’s hard, and unless you start at the age of three, you won’t be able to do it very well. I know this from personal experience. So the new higher tax threshold will still destroy the countryside. It’ll affect the country’s ability to feed itself.”
He further commented: “And there are still thousands of farmers out there who are having to deal with the stress of knowing that they cannot pass their farm on to the only people who know how to run it. Their children. And the big question is, why have the tax at all?” as he challenged the government’s rationale for implementing the tax, declaring: “The fight goes on.”
Meanwhile, Clarkson has also shared details about his impressive weight loss transformation, revealing he’s lost three stone since January through injections.
The presenter has disclosed that he now walks considerably more, enjoys improved sleep, and feels completely “energised” following the treatment and having stents fitted. In a recent interview promoting his upcoming quiz show Millionaire Hot Seat, Jeremy told ITV that while he still indulges in a curry, he’s cut out snacking, which he admits used to “fill you up” without you noticing, reports the Express.
Jeremy spoke of feeling noticeably healthier and more energetic as a result of his transformation. “Yes I walk further, I have got more energy and now I’ve got my stents in, I’m energised,” he revealed, according to the Mirror.
This isn’t the first time Jeremy has spoken about his weight-loss journey and its impact on his life. After undergoing emergency heart surgery in late 2024, he was motivated to make significant lifestyle changes for his health.

The 65 year old presenter has no intention of slowing down, insisting that without work, he would simply “rot”. The Grand Tour star made these remarks as ITV announced he’ll be hosting Millionaire Hot Seat, a fast-paced version of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? set to launch in January 2026.
The show is described as a “tactical twist” on the traditional format, with six contestants vying for the prime position in a rotating chair setup. Only the contestant in the “hot seat” can answer questions, but they have the option to pass, which sends them to the back of the line.
A wrong answer results in elimination and reduces the potential prize money.
“It’s a very expensive game of musical chairs,” Jeremy commented. “You can be the most brilliant player and go home with nothing or you can be useless, and go home with the prize.”
