‘Gold Rush’ Rick Ness Risks $1 Million As He Goes For The Gold
With Gold Rush returning for another season back in November, viewers have recently been watching Rick Ness make a huge gamble. In fact, he faced a few setbacks during a recent episode of the show. Meanwhile, viewers got further updates with other cast members of the show. Keep reading for more details on what has been going on.
Rick Ness’ Team Was Hoping To Reach ‘Valhalla Or Bust’
Gold Rush is a Discovery series that explores various mining companies‘ efforts to collect gold. Starting in 2010, the series has taken fans to all sorts of places, including Alaska, Oregon, Canada, and Guyana.
Fans were introduced to Rick Ness as a member of Parker Schnabel’s crew. He first joined the show during the third season. Ness left to start his own independent mining operation around 2018.

Currently, as Gold Rush is in its sixteenth season, viewers saw Ness leave Lightning Creek and move back to Vegas Valley. However, the site was previously seen as too dangerous to mine.
Recently, Ness, feeling he was forced to make a big gamble, gathered his crew to share his plan. This would include extending Vegas Valley by four acres and shifting over a million yards in six weeks. At the time, he claimed it was the “only option” they had.
Despite the risk, which could even mean the end of the company, the crew had faith in Ness. Meanwhile, Ness dubbed the new cut “Valhalla,” inspired by a Stormwarrior song, as well as a plane of the afterlife in Norse mythology. This also inspired the name of the episode, “Valhalla or Bust.” At Duncan Creek, the crew started the project, stripping the bottom at a nice pace.
Viewers Also Got A Few Updates Concerning Tony Beets & Parker Schnabel
As this went on, Ness was told that he would be all in with his $1 million in the balance with regard to the expenses. Despite this, Ness continued to hope for the best. Things took another turn when a rock truck went down. While it cost the crew some considerable time, it was eventually repaired with parts coming in for installation.
Meanwhile, things seemed a bit more hopeful for Tony Beets. During the weekly weigh-in, his team totaled over $2.3 million in gold. This was around 2,000 ounces out of his target.
Parker Schnabel’s team also faced issues, starting with pieces of debris left behind by crew members. A piece of steel also cost a rock truck a tire. Later, the wash plant faced feeder issues. Numbers were down during the weekly weigh-in. However, Schnabel still had hope that things would eventually get back on track in time to reach the team’s goals.
On social media, fans have also been sharing what they think Ness should do or what could be causing issues. Taking to Instagram, one fan wrote, “I think Rick struggles as a boss with walking the line between buddy and boss with his employees. He needs to be straight up: this is the plan.” Others shared their support, with one sharing, “Y’all got this RICK&TEAM.”
