Jeremy Clarkson shares six-word mantra as he admits ‘I can’t be bothered’

Former Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson has shared his six-word mantra about impatience and admitted he is confused about how electric cars work and says ‘I can’t be bothered’

Former Top Gear host Jeremy Clarkson has revealed he lives by a six-word motto driven by his impatience, whilst acknowledging his difficulties with electric vehicles.

The seasoned motoring journalist penned in his Sunday Times column that he lacks the “have the mental capacity” to endure even 10 minutes whilst an electric car charges.

He confessed that this frustration also applies to the Sky box situated behind his telly and even extends to lifts lacking a button to shut the doors.

Jeremy proceeded to explain that he’s occasionally baffled by how certain electric cars operate and why some feature two motors whilst others have just one, reports the Express.

Jeremy, 65, remarked: “And if I ever get in a lift that doesn’t have a button you can press to close the doors, I have what feels very like a coronary. I have a mantra: ‘Now. Or I can’t be bothered.’

“Will a battery-powered Renault 5 save civilisation from itself ? I’m really not convinced it will. I also have no idea how such cars work.

“Some, I’m led to believe, have two electric motors, one for the back wheels and one for those up front. And I cannot comprehend how this is possible.”

Jeremy’s bewilderment and frustration with contemporary electric cars emerges as the presenter turned farmer grapples with pressing challenges at his Diddly Squat farm. The popular Amazon Prime programme Clarkson’s Farm is scheduled to return in May for its fifth series.

However, production of the sixth series was forced to pause due to adverse weather whilst an outbreak of bovine TB at the farm meant the site had to shut temporarily. Jeremy has also revealed the farm is dealing with an unwell donkey amongst their current challenges.

During an appearance on the My Week in Cars podcast, Jeremy discussed the circumstances at Diddly Squat, explaining: “There is no script to this TV show, people always go it’s staged but the pigs dying, Gerard’s cancer – you can’t stage any of it.

“We’ve got a donkey that’s desperately ill at the moment, we’ve all got our fingers crossed that it makes it, but I don’t know, I can’t write a script saying ‘then it got better’ because you don’t know what the donkey’s going to do.

“So you have to be ready to go – but you do spend an awful lot of time sitting around doom scrolling on your phone waiting for the weather to get better or for animals to do something.”
