Jeremy Clarkson’s Hawkstone Beer Eyes Major Sporting Event Partnership
Jeremy Clarkson’s Cotswolds-based brewery, Hawkstone, could be on the verge of a significant partnership with a major sporting event, according to recent reports. Hawkstone, a brand named after a distinctive Cotswold stone, has garnered impressive recognition in recent years, including being named the fastest-growing company in the region. Last year, it was ranked 23rd in the prestigious Sunday Times 100, which highlights the top 100 entrepreneurial businesses in the UK.
The brewery, which has experienced remarkable growth, is led by Clarkson, who is its largest shareholder. Hawkstone has become a familiar name across the UK, expanding into over 1,500 pubs and securing placement in major supermarkets such as the Co-op, Waitrose, Sainsbury’s, and Morrisons. Its rapid rise in the market reflects its success, with the company nearly tripling its sales to £21.3 million in the year leading up to March. Over the last three years, Hawkstone has averaged an impressive annual growth rate of 134 percent, signaling its rising prominence in the UK’s competitive drinks industry.

Hawkstone has further cemented its place in the public eye with Clarkson’s personal involvement. The 65-year-old former Top Gear presenter took a bold step last year by purchasing The Farmer’s Dog pub in Asthall, near Burford, for £1 million. At this pub, he serves Hawkstone lager, a drink made from malted barley grown on his 1,000-acre farm in the Cotswolds. This move has not only helped raise the profile of his brewery but has also become a symbol of Clarkson’s deepening ties to the local community and his commitment to championing British products.
As Hawkstone continues to grow, it has attracted significant attention, and now the brewery is reportedly in the running to become the official beer partner of the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground. This follows the closure of BrewDog’s partnership with Lord’s, opening up an opportunity for other companies to bid for the prestigious role. According to reports from the Daily Mail, Hawkstone is now among the top contenders to take over the spot, competing against other major industry players.
Robert Lawson, the chief executive and secretary of Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC), which owns Lord’s, confirmed the move towards a new brewery partnership in a letter, as reported by the Mail. The letter explained that following changes to the brewery’s business operations, the MCC believed it was the right time to initiate a new tender process to ensure stability and continuity for the 2026 season. The letter further stated that the competitive process to appoint a new supplier would begin shortly, paving the way for a new chapter in Lord’s long-standing history with beer partnerships.
If successful, Hawkstone would join an exclusive list of brands associated with one of the most famous cricket grounds in the world, further solidifying its position as one of the leading brands in the UK’s drinks industry. Clarkson’s involvement in the brand and his growing portfolio of business ventures show that Hawkstone is not just another local brewery—it is rapidly becoming a household name with a broad appeal that stretches beyond the Cotswolds and into the heart of the UK’s sporting culture.
