Emotional Jeremy Clarkson breaks silence on his farming choir on BGT and shares poignant message
JEREMY Clarkson choked up as he broke his silence on his farming choir’s epic Britain’s Got Talent performance.
The vocalists from The Hawkstone Farmer’s Choir. left the ITV judges – and live show audience – in tears with their performance, and bagged Amanda Holden’s Golden Buzzer in the process.
32 individuals including farmers and those in the agriculture industry were brought together by the Clarkson’s Farm star in 2024 and have continued to perform together ever since.
On Saturday’s Britain’s Got Talent episode, they gave their rendition of Elbow’s One Day Like This and scooped a standing ovation from the crowd in Blackpool.
Taking to his Instagram grid shortly after the show aired, former Top Gear anchor Jeremy was clearly emotional.
He wore a checked white shirt as he perched on a chair to give his take and said: “Hello everybody, I watched Britain’s Got Talent last night for the first time because the Hawkstone Choir were on
“And they were just fantastic.
“These guys are all farmers and they work incredibly hard for really, incredibly small rewards.
“To see them all on that stage with all that love in the room made my heart sing – I actually welled up.
“And thank you Amanda Holden for pressing that Golden Buzzer thing, I don’t know what that means but it obviously is important”.
Struggling to manage his emotions, he paused before he continued: “Yeah, yeah it shows that I think people quite like farmers.
“And they were very, very good.
“Well done all of you, I am a very happy man tonight.
“That choir is fab, yeah, sorry that’s it,” before tailing off as he became choked up.
His Instagram followers were quick to agree and one commented: “I’m so happy for the @thehawkstonefarmerschoir”.
A second put: “People love farmers!!! The government don’t seem to share that opinion nor do I’m afraid supermarkets on the whole. Keep up the epic work!!!!”
A third wrote: “Great work to support our amazing farmers”.
Another simply put: “They were amazing!!”
Ahead of their pitch perfect audition, one choir member gave a well-deserved shoutout to Jezza in front of the judges and the programme’s audience.
She said: “Jeremy Clarkson did a thing… Jeremy brought us together to sing, and it’s just really been amazing for us all.”
Aged between 27 and 74, she went on to say to the panel of judges: “Every single one of us is in agriculture in some way or another. This isn’t our day jobs; we’re usually out in the fields!
“We work by ourselves day in and day out, sometimes 16, 17 hours a day. This has brought us together.
“We’re not singers by nature. It’s brought us as a family – we have one thing that unites us and that is farming.
“We love what we do but it can be incredibly hard: really lonely, very isolating.
“To do this all together, it’s meant the world to us.”
On the night, Amanda could also be seen with tears in her eyes as the choir could be seen jumping for joy at the news they would be making it through to the semi-finals.
Speaking through her tears, Amanda said: “As you started, I completely welled up. I felt so much power.
“I love the whole community. I love how you’ve all got together and work your a***s off.
“You work so hard every single day.
“You absolutely smashed it and I can’t wait to see what you do in the semi-finals. Congratulations.”
