Jeremy Clarkson’s disastrous pub launch blamed on famous neighbour

In the latest season of Clarkson’s Farm, Jeremy Clarkson had to deal with a disastrous launch of his new pub, The Farmer’s Dog, as the opening suffered one setback after another.

Staff walking out, malfunctioning extractor fans, gas supply problems, and a leaky roof were just some of the issues the former BBC Top Gear host had to contend with.

Since the episode aired on Amazon Prime Video, it has emerged that the main issue during the day was the water supply, and a certain famous face could have been to blame.

That celebrity is none other than Ellen DeGeneres, as the former US chat show host and her actress wife, Portia de Rossi, decided to sell their home in Montecito, California, in 2024 in response to the re-election of Donald Trump

Now they live in the Cotswolds village of Asthall – a stone’s throw away from Diddly Squat Farm – and boast an enormous swimming pool.

In an interview with the Daily Mail, one local resident claimed that the source of Jeremy’s woes was due to Ellen filling up her swimming pool.

They said: “Pools of that size, filled with normal mains water, can take a week to nine days to fill. Sometimes even longer, depending on the local mains water pressure.

“If you can imagine having all the taps on to fill the pool, that has to take a lot of water out of the system and Asthall really is just a very small hamlet with a handful of houses.

“Perhaps it is no surprise that Clarkson, with all the water a business like that uses, ran out.”

They believe that the 56ft-long pool was emptied, cleaned, and refilled around the August Bank Holiday.

This is exactly when the Grand Tour star held the grand unveiling of his revamped pub.

After the headache of the launch, Jeremy has made it clear that his pub is the last business venture he’ll embark on.

In an interview with The Times, he said: “I’m done with business now. I am not starting another business as long as I live.

“I don’t understand it and am not motivated by money. I just want a good craic.”
