Fletchers’ Family Farm to End After Four Series as ITV Lines Up a New Replacement
Fletchers’ Family Farm came to an end on Sunday, with fans wondering what will fill in the weekend slot.
ITV has confirmed a replacement broadcast as Kelvin and Liz Fletcher’s show came to an end on Sunday, April 12. After four series of the show, which has become a regular fixture of the 11.30am Sunday slot, fans have been left disappointed that it has wrapped up production.
The show, titled Fletchers’ Family Farm, follows the married couple as they trudge through the highs and lows of running a farm. The former Emmerdale star moved to the Peak District village of Wincle in Cheshire in 2021, were he filmed the beginnings of his farming career for viewers to enjoy.
However, as the final episode has now aired, viewers are wondering which show is set to replace it. ITV has confirmed that from Sunday, April 19, the time slot will be given to Josie’s Taste of the West Country, which will be hosted by This Morning’s Josie Gibson, reports the Liverpool Echo.
The synopsis for the first episode reads: “Proud Bristolian Josie Gibson goes on a culinary tour of the region, meeting local producers, sampling regional delicacies, and celebrating people, flavours and landscapes.
“She begins in Gloucestershire, saddling up for a scenic ride before meeting Countryfile’s Adam Henson and his special pigs, and helping chef Paul Ainsworth make a decadent fondue – with mustard that was written about by William Shakespeare.”
Following the airing of the final episode, Liz shared a compilation of clips from the show on Instagram that highlight the family’s love for a cup of tea. In the caption she wrote: “Our last episode of the season airs today. You know what that calls for……cuppa tea time.”
Many fans of the show have taken to the comments section to share how much they loved the show. One person wrote: “I am going to have fomo, I have thoroughly enjoyed watching you all…Such a beautiful family. Liz you are like Superwoman! A true inspiration to working mums.”
Another fan added: “Best show on TV, Kelvin! You’re not kidding! My Sunday mornings taken with a cup of coffee watchin you guys will be
sorely missed. Come back soon.”
A third person commented: “What a joy it is watching your lovely family on your amazing farm! The kids are having the best lives, you show how great farm life is, roll on the next series, good luck getting your home ready to live in again, well done on another excellent series.”
The fourth series of the show has shown some truly great highs for the Fletcher family, as well as some heartbreaking lows. Viewers watched as the family were forced to leave their farmhouse due to a fire, as well as finding out the devastating news that their cow, Cherry, had passed away.
At the time, Kelvin said: “It’s absolutely heartbreaking. I’ve no idea at all about what’s caused it. I’m just surprised how shocking it is, to be honest, I’m just having a bit of shock.”
Looking towards the future and what lies ahead for their farm, both Kelvin and Liz have expressed their desire for their children to take over the farm one day.
Liz shared: “Having the kids involved and helping just makes it special, because they’ll one day, hopefully, take over, and me and Kelvin can be in the Bahamas. So I’m hoping that the kids are doing all this, and we’re just sitting back, and they’re sending us money.”
Kelvin added: “You know what I would actually love, let’s say in, I don’t know, 20 years from now, that I’m just kind of the farm handyman, the farm labourer, and that the kids are running a big farming enterprise.”
However, fully letting go of the business may be hard for Kelvin, as he continued: “I think that’s probably the hardest thing for most farming families, to let go.”
