Gold Digging and Dealing Gold Detecting Australia by Tyler Mahoney
Outback, Australia — It’s been a whirlwind week for gold prospector and entrepreneur Tyler Mahoney, as her latest gold drop nearly sold out overnight, capping off a massive launch that had her fans scrambling to get their hands on quality Aussie gold.
After passing out from exhaustion following the final site upload, Tyler woke to find that her website had been nearly cleared out. “There are a couple of nuggets left,” she said, “but the $500 and ounce parcels are the best deals on the site—$10 cheaper per gram than individual nuggets.” And according to Tyler, they’re going fast.
Her website wasn’t the only thing buzzing this week. Tyler’s popular opal collection is flying off the digital shelves, and she’s also preparing for a major vending machine rollout, drafting contracts late into the night while balancing restocks, photo shoots, packaging, and coding the backend of her store herself.
“I love my job so much,” she shared. “Even when it’s 12 hours straight uploading images, updating links, managing the mailing list, and filming content—I wouldn’t trade it.”
Mining Meets Reclamation
In the bush, Tyler got back in the loader for some serious reclamation work, backfilling old dig sites while avoiding damage to nearby trees. “You’ve got to put the ground back to how it was—that’s what reclamation’s all about,” she explained. But fuel shortages and logistical hiccups meant things didn’t go entirely to plan. “Ran out of fuel mid-backfill,” she laughed. “Of course.”
The Gold Sorting Never Stops
Back at the shed, gold was sorted into parcels and prepped for shipping. Big nuggets, small ones, and even ironstone matrix specimens were weighed, photographed, and uploaded. Tyler runs a tight but passionate operation, with help from her family—who she buys gold from at fair prices—making it a win-win for everyone involved.
“This helps my family out too. I’m so grateful to be where I am.”
A Touch of Chaos—and a Lot of Heart
Amidst managing her inventory and coding popups into her website, Tyler was also prepping for Cow Cup events, trying on outfits, cooking with friends, and navigating the highs and lows of business and mental health.
She candidly opened up about her past as a strict vegan tied to an eating disorder and her journey now toward balance, both in diet and in life. “I still believe in the ethics of it,” she said, “but I’m trying to nourish my body now, not punish it.”
What’s Next?
With a trip to Bali just around the corner, Tyler wrapped up the week by picking up friends, finishing gold orders, and vowing to bring fans along for the ride with her very first weekly vlog. “Let me know what you liked, what you want to see more of,” she told her viewers. “I’ll do a Bali vlog next. I’m so grateful for your support.”
One thing is clear: Whether she’s in the bush, behind the screen, or on the move, Tyler Mahoney is all in—and her business is golden.
