The Discovery Channel star’s family is asking for ‘prayers’ amid the scary situation.
Moonshiners star Troy Halsey recently underwent emergency surgery amid a life-threatening health scare.
On April 15, Troy’s wife, Sonya Halsey, took to Facebook to ask fans to “please say prayers for my ole man.”
“His main artery to his heart through his stomach down his legs (THE MAIN BODY ARTERY) has ruptured! He has bled internally!” she detailed.
Sonya continued, “They have him stable but he is in the air..he has been lifefighted to 2 hospitals so far and he’s on the helicopter now headed to Columbia University Hospital for emergency surgery.”
Troy’s wife also put things into perspective for followers, explaining, “The doctor here just told him people he sees come in with this arent still even alive anymore and that he is very lucky rite now.!. He will have Emergency Surgery this afternoon!”
On April 16, Sonya shared via Facebook that Troy’s surgery “went well”—however, the Moonshiners star lost a kidney in the process.
“As of 11 pm last night he was out of surgery and sleeping heavily.. as soon as we go in and see him this morning Ill let everyone know,” she added.
In an April 17 follow-up post on Facebook, Sonya offered a health update on Troy.
“I want to let you guys know that he called me and he was up in the recliner In his room and he was feeling much more comfortable in it than he was in the bed, which makes sense because of his back,” she shared.
Sonya added, “But he is trying to be in good spirits and says, thank you to everyone For being such awesome support and a great-great team.”
