Ted and Lecky Mahoney, joined by their daughter and seasoned prospector Tyler Mahoney, have wrapped up a high-stakes gold season with a string of stunning finds in the red-hot heart of Western Australia.
Celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary, Ted and Lecky took a bold leap this season, setting their sights on a towering 60-ounce gold target—worth nearly $100,000. It was a massive goal, but one they approached with experience, determination, and their secret weapon: Tyler.
“She’s that lucky charm,” said Ted, as the trio headed out into remote salt lakes and scorching bushlands, armed with detectors and dreams.
The season kicked off in spectacular style when Tyler unearthed a whopping 12-ounce nugget, sending her into a joyful meltdown.
“Are you ready? Are you ready? Check that out!” she gasped. Valued at around $19,000, it was the kind of find that can change the course of a season.
From there, the Mahoneys battled brutal heatwaves, electromagnetic interference, and tough ground in search of more yellow treasure. Ted and Tyler each hit solid nuggets, but the pressure mounted as the target loomed.
Then, in a jaw-dropping twist, Lecky uncovered a massive nugget on the couple’s anniversary.
