Gold Rush Star Tyler Mahoney Reveals $150,000 Gold Discovery & Treasure Hunt in Greenville

Greenville welcomed a very unique guest this week — fourth-generation gold prospector and television personality Tyler Mahoney, all the way from the Australian outback. Known for her starring roles in gold-hunting TV series and for finding six-figure gold hauls in remote bushland, Mahoney is in town for something just as exciting: treasure.

Mahoney, whose family has been digging for gold for generations, is bringing authentic Australian gold nuggets to the U.S. through an exclusive partnership with Richmond Auctions. The event, slated for late summer, will be one of the largest auctions of rare Aussie nuggets ever held on American soil.

But before the gavel comes down, Mahoney is kicking things off in true prospector style—with a Greenville Gold Treasure Hunt.

“We’re giving away $1,000 worth of gold in each black box,” Mahoney said in a local interview. “These are natural Australian nuggets that I found personally in the outback.” Three boxes are hidden throughout the city today, and residents have three chances to win. Clues drop at 10 a.m., 11 a.m., and noon on Mahoney’s Instagram (@tylermani) and Facebook page, as well as The Prospectors Club social media.

Her visit has drawn both curiosity and excitement. “We’re absolutely loving Greenville,” she said. “This city’s beautiful, and the people are amazing.”

When asked about her background, Mahoney proudly shared her roots. “I’m a fourth-generation gold digger. It’s not just a job — it’s in my blood. We live out in the bush, and we do this full-time.” She recalled her biggest personal find: over $150,000 worth of gold in a remote ironstone load, about 10 hours from the nearest town.

Mahoney admitted that prospecting is no easy life. “It’s 115 degrees in the summer, you’re covered in flies, and you might go days without finding anything. My dad always says, ‘It’s either baked beans or lobster.’ That’s gold mining.”

Still, her passion shines through. “Gold fever is real. Once you catch it, you’re hooked.”

For locals hoping to cash in on some golden luck, Mahoney offered a tip: “Natural nuggets like these aren’t just gold — they’re collectibles. They often sell for more than the market price, so do your research before selling.”

With the treasure hunt underway and anticipation building for the summer auction, Greenville is truly catching gold fever.
