The no-nonsense miner, known for his laser focus and multi-million-dollar gold operations in Alaska, surprised fans by showing his lighter side after a successful expedition across the Australian Outback. The Discovery Channel cameras caught Parker and his team — including fourth-generation Aussie prospector Tyler Mahoney — enjoying a well-earned barbecue and spraying Champagne like victorious race car drivers after wrapping up nine grueling weeks of prospecting across 6,000 miles of harsh terrain.
“It’s the best trip I’ve ever been on,” Parker said during the celebratory dinner. He told his crew that what they discovered down under was enough to inspire him to seriously consider expanding operations to Australia — a move that would allow him to mine year-round, offsetting Alaska’s brutal off-seasons.
Fans were also quick to pick up on the chemistry between Parker and Tyler, whose expertise helped the team uncover potential in Australia’s rugged goldfields. Tyler, who comes from a long line of gold hunters, became an indispensable partner during the journey — and possibly more, according to hopeful fans.

The pair are currently featured in season six of Gold Rush: Parker’s Trail, this time trekking through the jungles and mountains of South America in search of what Parker estimates could be $100 million in buried gold. It’s the latest leg in a global adventure that has taken Parker and Tyler through some of the planet’s most remote and dangerous goldfields.
