Gold Rush

Parker Schnabel Strikes Gold in Bolivia: New Ground Shows Yukon-Level Promise

In a bold attempt to uncover untapped riches in South America, gold mining prodigy Parker Schnabel and his team may have found their most promising claim yet in the highlands of Bolivia. After a rigorous day of bolt testing using a homemade sluice box, Schnabel’s team recovered an impressive third of a gram per yard — numbers on par with his highly productive Yukon operation.

The test was part of a broader assessment to determine whether the Bolivian ground holds commercial potential. Armed with basic tools, AstroTurf lining, and old-fashioned teamwork, Parker, Tyler Mahoney, Danny Etheridge, and Diego showed that gold recovery doesn’t require million-dollar gear—just solid know-how and grit.

“This place is worth giving it a good red-hot shot,” Schnabel said after panning out the final sample.

The operation began with some makeshift engineering: a sluice box rigged together with minimal materials and fitted with new side handles for easier transport. “Masterpiece of engineering,” Diego joked as the team lugged the heavy contraption to the creek — heavy, as they soon discovered, with gold.

Running just over a yard of paydirt, the recovery yielded more than 500 milligrams, equivalent to over $25 per yard — a figure that turns heads in any goldfield. What’s more, Bolivian setup and running costs are nearly one-third of what Parker pays in the Yukon. The math speaks for itself: this site could mean millions in additional profits.

While the sluice test was promising, Schnabel emphasized the need to dig deeper. “If this ground’s anything like the Yukon, the coarser gold’s going to be further down,” he said, hinting at bigger rewards to come.

For Mahoney, Etheridge, and Diego, the moment was more than financial. It was a turning point in team dynamics. “Today has been one of the best days for the team,” Parker noted. “We really came together as a four.”

Though more exploration is needed, the landowner has shown openness to a deal — a rare combination in a region where good ground is usually claimed or heavily mined.

As the sun set over the Bolivian hills, the team’s spirits were high and their sluice box full. If today’s test is any indication, Parker Schnabel may have just uncovered his next gold rush.
