From dirt to digital, the Aussie prospector proves there’s more to gold than just glitter
For Tyler Mahoney, prospector, entrepreneur, and television personality, no two weeks are ever the same — and this one was no exception. From reclaiming mining leases under a scorching sun to launching her biggest gold and opal drop yet, Tyler’s week blended bush grit with boardroom hustle, all while navigating vending machine contracts, Shopify glitches, and the occasional champagne-fueled 21st.
Here’s an exclusive inside look at what really goes on behind the gold pans.
Monday: Reclamation Realities
Out on the family leases in Western Australia, Tyler kicked off her week knee-deep in dust and diesel. Regulations under the Program of Work (PoW) required her to backfill several sites before opening new ones. With the loader nearly out of fuel and the fuel ute stuck at the mechanic, progress was slow — and compounded by a line of trees making loader access nearly impossible.
“It’s all part of it,” Tyler said, brushing off setbacks. “You can’t keep ground open forever — gotta put it back before you go forward.”
Tuesday: Business at the Gym (Literally)
Before dawn, Tyler hit the gym — but not just for a workout. She’s launching her first vending machine stocked with health and wellness items: protein bars, collagen sachets, even premium coffee.
“I don’t know how to run a vending business — but I’ll figure it out,” she laughed. “Fire, ready, aim — that’s always been my model. Say yes, then work it out later.”
Her vending machine will soon be active at the local gym where she works out, marking yet another income stream in her expanding entrepreneurial empire.
Wednesday: The Gold Drop
The midweek gold drop — Tyler’s largest to date — had her sorting, weighing, photographing, uploading, and packing gold nuggets, specimens, and opal collaborations for her company, The Prospector Club.
“I get so nervous before a drop,” she admitted. “But waking up to almost everything sold out? That feeling doesn’t get old.”
Behind the scenes, Tyler wrestled with Squarespace coding to add last-minute pop-ups and checkout features, while also finalizing a partnership with rising opal sellers “The Young Guns.”
Thursday: Gratitude and Grind
Exhausted but ecstatic, Tyler spent most of Thursday packing orders, inputting shipping tags, and updating inventory.
“I love my job, but it’s chaos,” she joked, panning the camera across her cluttered packing station. “If I get five orders out, I feel good — but there’s always 40 more waiting.”
Dinner came courtesy of her brother Kobe, who poured wine and manned the kitchen as Tyler finished the last of the parcels, prepping for a weekend escape.
Friday-Sunday: From the Bush to the Bash
After wrapping up business in Kalgoorlie and C.Y. O’Connor, Tyler and her friends drove into York for a 21st birthday bash. The theme? Naughty Little Devils — all black and horns.
There were cocktails, chaotic shopping sprees (“Don’t tell my boyfriend, but I spent $700 today”), and even a brief mishap involving a locked caravan and a very tiny friend climbing in through the window.
Monday: Reflections and Runway
Back in Perth on Monday, Tyler wrapped up her first ever weekly vlog.
“I’ve never done one of these before,” she said. “But it’s kind of amazing to see how much happens in just a week. I’m heading to Bali tomorrow, and I think I’ll do another vlog there.”
Between gold, gumboots, gym reps, and Google searches on vending machine coding, it’s clear Tyler Mahoney is building more than just wealth — she’s building a legacy.
“People think it’s all TV and treasure maps,” she smiled. “But really, it’s a lot of sweat, spreadsheets, and saying yes to the next wild thing.”
