Harriet Cowan: The Fresh Face Shaking Up Clarkson’s Farm
Just when fans thought Clarkson’s Farm couldn’t deliver any more surprises, a new name has ploughed her way into the spotlight — and straight into viewers’ hearts. Harriet Cowan, the young farmer and community nurse from Derbyshire, has quickly become the unexpected star of the hit Amazon Prime series’ fourth season.
From the moment Cowan stepped onto Jeremy Clarkson’s Diddly Squat Farm, she turned heads, matched fan-favourite Caleb Cooper stride for stride, and sparked a wider conversation about who really belongs in farming today.
In an exclusive chat this week, Cowan opened up about her whirlwind introduction to fame, her plans to break old stereotypes, and the very real struggles many farmers face behind the scenes.
“I hadn’t watched a single episode before filming,” Cowan admitted, laughing. “It actually helped — I just turned up and did what I do on my own farm.”
But beyond the comedic chaos that fans see on-screen, Cowan says her stint on Clarkson’s Farm opened her eyes to a bigger mission — giving young farmers, especially women, a stronger voice.
“It’s lonely work,” she shared candidly. “And after Covid, so many farmers have become even more isolated. If my platform can get people talking about mental health and farming, and maybe even save lives — that’s worth it.”
Balancing her farm work with her day job as a community nurse in Belper, Cowan is also on a quiet mission to change how the world pictures a farmer.
“Just because I curl my hair and wear makeup doesn’t mean I can’t farm,” she said firmly. “I want people to see that there’s no single way a farmer should look or live.”
And what of Clarkson himself — the famously gruff star at the centre of the Cotswolds chaos? Cowan says he’s not so different from any other farmer.
“He genuinely wants to learn. Filming was just another day on the farm, really,” she said.
Fans have also loved Cowan’s on-screen banter with Caleb Cooper — so much so that many are already calling for her to return. Off camera, the pair have built a strong friendship.
“Caleb’s amazing — we’re really close now. We still check in on each other, farmer to farmer,” she said with a smile.
So, will Harriet Cowan be back for another season? She’s keeping her cards close but hinted: “We’ve left it very open. I’m here if he needs me. You’re never getting me off the farm!”
By the look of the buzz online, most fans would rather she stayed exactly where she is — boots muddy, hair curled, and ready to keep rewriting what farming can look like for the next generation.
