Since then, many treasure seekers have come to Oak Island in search of Kidd’s elusive treasure, but all have faced the same mystery and the curse that seems to guard the riches.
The Lagina Brothers’ Quest: A New Era of Exploration
Fast forward to June 7th, 2023, when Rick and Marty Lagina, two brothers from Michigan, made a significant discovery in their relentless quest to uncover the treasure of Oak Island. Armed with state-of-the-art technology, including Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR), they focused their efforts on an area known as Smith’s Cove, which has long been believed to be the location of the hidden treasure. It was there that they unearthed a large stone slab buried 10 feet underground. The slab, weighing 1,000 lbs and made of limestone, was roughly 3 feet wide, 2 feet tall, and 6 inches thick.
What made the discovery even more intriguing were the strange symbols carved into the stone, which the Lagina brothers believed held significant meaning. Although the symbols remain unintelligible to experts, the brothers sought professional help to interpret the carvings, hoping that they might provide a clue about the treasure’s whereabouts. This discovery marked the first significant find in the area since the Lagina brothers began their search for the treasure in 2015.
