Jeremy Clarkson urged to make ‘impossible’ change at Cotswolds pub
Jeremy Clarkson has been urged to make an “impossible” change at his Cotswolds pub in Oxfordshire.
The TV star known for presenting roles on BBC’s Top Gear and Prime Video’s The Grand Tour ventured into farming after purchasing an Oxfordshire farm in 2008.
Diddly Squat Farm in Chadlington has been the focus of all four series of the Prime Video documentary show Clarkson’s Farm since it debuted in 2021.
Mr Clarkson recently added a pub to his business roster alongside the farm, purchasing The Windmill in Asthall near Burford for around £1,000,000.
Renaming it The Farmer’s Dog, the 65-year-old opened the Cotswolds boozer to the public last August with huge crowds turning out for the occasion.
The TV star has now been asked to make an “impossible” change to the pub following an inspection by Thames Water.
In his latest column for The Sun, Mr Clarkson detailed a surprise inspection at the pub from the water company.
“You might imagine that staff at the near-bankrupt fish-killing enterprise known as Thames Water would be working round the clock.
“Ideally, doing something about the hosepipe ban, rising bills and the torrent of sewage being pumped into the region’s rivers every day, but apparently not.”
The piece goes on to add that the pub faces poor water pressure problems, which have led to staff having to harvest water overnight.
This is then stored in a 6,000-litre tank to deal with the current daytime shortages.
The Thames Water representatives detailed a list of changes required of Mr Clarkson, which the presenter described as “stupid, petty stuff”.
One of the demands stood out to the 65-year-old as he added: “They want [a change] made to our Rational steam ovens, which, according to our plumber, would be impossible.”
Clarkson’s Farm series five, which is expected to feature the pub once again alongside Diddly Squat Farm, is currently filming in Oxfordshire.
