A Clarkson’s Farm Personality Is Struggling to Move a £2.8m Country Property
A star of Clarkson’s Farm has failed to sell their Cotswolds country home for £2.8 million.
The hugely popular Prime Video show began in 2021 and follows the agricultural adventures on Diddly Squat Farm in Chadlington, Oxfordshire.
Former Top Gear and Grand Tour host Jeremy Clarkson bought the farm back in 2008 and has been getting to grips with running it in recent years.
Four seasons have been released so far, with the 65-year-old confirming this week that filming had wrapped on the upcoming series five.
Rachel Hawkins, who helped Mr Clarkson get his Cotswolds pub The Farmer’s Dog up and running in the new clips, lives nearby.
The hospitality entrepreneur, who specialises in helping rundown pubs, was aiming to sell off her £2.8 million country home in a raffle.
After purchasing the pad in November 2015 for £750,000, Ms Hawkins set up home there with long-term partner Will Kennedy.
The six-bedroom house, which can be found in the heart of Stow-on-the-Wold, had raffle entries available from as little as £10 earlier this year.
It was also stated that the option to take the money equivalent of the nearly £3 million home was available to those lucky enough to win, if the home was not their dream.
A winner has been announced by Raffle House, but Heather, who chose not to give her surname, decided to pick the cash money prize over the property.
After proving victorious, she said: “I’m gobsmacked. Is this real? Oh. My. God. I’m in so much shock.
“I’ve been subscribed since April, and you’ve got to be in it to win it. And I never thought I’d actually win anything.
“But you have to be in it! It’s definitely a life-changing amount for me and my family – I’m a mum, with my husband and two children.
“It’s a life-changing amount of money for us, thank you.
“I don’t want anyone we know knowing we’ve won a significant amount of money – we aren’t in an affluent area, and it would make me feel awkward with my friends and family.”
Raffle House revealed that because Hetaher chose to take the cash, the house was retained by the owner, Rachel, and not sold.
Julie Davies asked on Facebook: “So disappointed, love the house!
“Will it be available again in the future if the cash was taken?”
Clarifying what has happened to the property, Raffle House responded: “It really is a beautiful house; we completely understand the disappointment.
“Unfortunately, the winner chose the cash prize, so the property was retained by the owner.”
