Clarkson’s Farm fan favourite star announces new venture

A fan favourite Clarkson’s Farm star has announced a new venture alongside Jeremy Clarkson’s Oxfordshire farm and pub.

‘Cheerful’ Charlie Ireland is a familiar face to fans of the farming show, being the former Top Gear host’s agronomist and land agent.

Usually the deliverer of bad news to Mr Clarkson, the star has appeared on all four series of Clarkson’s Farm to date, including new episodes last month.

Mr Ireland has now joined the fight to find a cure for motor neurone disease (MND), which is a cause close to his heart.

The managing director of Ceres Rural announced on Friday (June 27) that he is to become a Motor Neurone Disease Association (MNDA) ambassador.

A life-shortening condition, MND affects the nerves found in the brain and spinal cord and can cause muscle wastage, affecting walking, talking, eating, drinking and breathing.

Mr Ireland’s father was diagnosed with the disease in 2008, and, after his father’s death, he praised both the efforts of MNDA and the NHS.

This saw him raise over £24,000 for the charity in 2023 after completing the Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon.

A Brief History of Top Gear

“Our family received amazing support and advice, and my dad received fantastic care from the wonderful teams supplied by MNDA,” Mr Ireland said.

“MND is a truly dreadful disease, but the warmth and kindness of the people we met through the NHS and MNDA helped us all.

“With no cure, and limited medical treatment available, raising funds for MNDA will allow vital research into the disease, as well as providing support for those who really need it.”
