Clarkson’s Farm Star Harriet Cowan Undergoes Surgery Following Serious Farm Injury
The farmer was rushed to hospital for surgery after she chopped the end of her finger off in a freak accident
Clarkson’s Farm star Harriet Cowan had quite the eventful week that had her being rushed to hospital and taken into surgery over a painful injury. The 24-year-old took to social media ahead of the weekend to reveal she had chopped the end of her finger off in a horrific accident – and shared the gruesome details.
“Sorry I’ve been quiet! Been a crappy week,” the Derbyshire nurse and farmer wrote to her Instagram Stories with a laughing emoji, managing to find some humour in the unfortunate turn of events of the week.
“Had a run in with a log splinter, chopped the end of my finger off, but a quick surgery [and] they stitched it back on!!” Harriet explained the freak accident to her followers with a photo of her middle finger all bandaged up after her operation, adding that “lambing starts now”.
Alongside her message, the nurse posted a gruesome update on how her injury is progressing, sharing photos of her bloody finger at the start of the week compared to a more recent picture showing it is on the mend. She signed off with a “big thank you to the amazing team” at Pulvertaft Hand Centre in Derby for the medical attention.
Despite the horrific week, Harriet showed she’s still in high spirits going into Valentine’s weekend as she posted a heartwarming message for her partner hours later. “Happy Valentine’s Day my love,” the TV star captioned a sweet video montage on Saturday morning.
Harriet’s Clarkson’s Farm journey
Harriet quickly became a fan-favourite farmhand after she joined Jeremy Clarkson’s hit Amazon Prime Video show, Clarkson’s Farm in its fourth season to temporarily replace Kaleb Cooper. She ended up leaving midway through the series when her assistance was no longer needed.
“Going forward I hope the next generation of farmers would be recognised more by the public and the government especially to put British farming on the map,” the nurse said after her exit from Diddly Squat farm. “People, be aware that we are here, and the Government should invest more time and money into farming because we need it. I think it’s a bit of a dying industry otherwise.”
Harriet later reflected on her monumental year in a 2025 wrap-up post on Instagram, admitting it was “a year [she’ll] never forget].
“Met some amazing people and friends , involved lots of what I like best, got to work with some experienced farmers and some less experienced farmers, travelled all around England visiting farms and county shows! Met lots of young people who want to go into agriculture.”
New Channel 4 gig
Viewers fret not, Harriet is back on screens in 2026. The farmer has landed a presenting gig on the Channel 4 show, Tiny Farmers. Harriet hosts alongside comedian Jessica Knappett as the show follows the challenges of four junior egg farmers.
After launching on Channel 4’s YouTube channel on 19 January, the show became available to stream on Channel 4 in February.
