Clarkson’s Farm star Harriet leaves fans saying ‘I don’t know how you do it’

Clarkson’s Farm’s Harriet Cowan has been a new face on the hit Amazon Prime Video show but quickly became a fan favourite and she gives fans an insight into her day-to-day life on social media

Clarkson’s Farm star Harriet Cowan has received praise from fans after sharing a farmland clip. Joining the latest series of the Amazon Prime Video show, Harriet stepped in to help former Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson at Diddly Squat Farm, while fan-favourite Kaleb Cooper is away on a UK tour.

People online have celebrated the 24-year-old nurse turned farmhand for her passion for farm life and her goal to prove that ‘girly girls’ like herself can drive tractors and tend to animals just as well as her male counterparts. Harriet’s time on the show was brief due to Kaleb’s return but she became popular with fans who have been able to keep up with her everyday life by watching the videos she shares online.

On Thursday, June 26 she posted a short video on TikTok of a tractor driving across hay with the caption: “A bit of tedding on the 110.”

Tedding is the act of fluffing and spreading cut crops, like hay, to increase air and sun exposure and decrease drying time, according to Tractor Tools Direct.

Harriet’s video has garnered several comments and one TikTok user said: “Sneezing just watching. Don’t know how you cope when it’s warm.”

Another added: “Harriet, in the clumsiest of times you’re a breath of fresh air.” A third commented: “Keep doing what you do…you’re an inspiration for many.”

A fourth fan chimed in: “Love ya girlie.” Harriet graduated from the University of Derby in 2023 with a degree in nursing but has had a very different career change.

Less than a week ago, the farm worker made a TikTok video telling viewers she was “in shock” at the increase in her followers after Clarkson’s Farm aired.

She’s managed to build more than 700,000 followers on the social media platform, where she has also amassed 2.7 million likes.

Harriet described her number of followers and growing popularity as “insane” and said she couldn’t “thank people enough” for wanting to “get involved” in her journey.

She then announced a possible new venture as she’s considering starting a YouTube channel with her partner James where she would show her day-to-day life on the farm.

The 24-year-old asked fans if this is something they would be interested in and revealed that she and James are both third-generation farmers, so agriculture runs in their families.

Harriet has been open about what it is like to be a farmer as she discussed mental health in farming with BBC Derby in a clip she shared on her Instagram account.

She candidly said: “It’s lonely, although you have all these animals around you, you don’t have anyone to talk to.

“If I can do anything, I’m gonna use the platform to sort of promote the mental health aspect in farming and if I can save one life, it’s something.”
