Clarkson’s Farm star says ‘who wants my smelly socks’ after awkward error
Harriet Cowan, who starred in the fourth season of Clarkson’s Farm, was left red-faced after an awkward spelling error left some users confused about what she was trying to say
Clarkson’s Farm star Harriet Cowan found herself laughing over an awkward blunder on social media. While promoting CountryMoos socks on Instagram, nurse-turned-farmhand Harriet accidentally suggested she was offering ‘used’ socks for sale instead of urging followers to ‘use her code for 10% off’.
Although her original post has since been taken down, Harriet clarified today (Saturday, June 21): “My story from this morning, I’m not selling used socks. I really need to start checking and spell checking,” confessing that she had misspelled a word, leading to the confusion.
She added: “[It’s] not the socks [that] are used and you can buy them.”
She could then be heard laughing, adding: “Who the frick wants my smelly socks?” while highlighting that farm work means she’s typically wearing boots all day. With a final chuckle, Harriet stated: “No, you can’t buy used socks.”
This light-hearted incident follows a recent post on TikTok, where she shared an endearing before-and-after image with her long-time partner, James Booth.
The couple, shown enjoying a dip in a hot tub in the snap from this year, have transitioned from ‘party teenagers in 2018’ to adults preferring early nights before 10pm.
Her affectionate post, hoping to spend a lifetime together, attracted nearly 10,000 likes.
Followers expressed their joy for the couple in the comments, with one posting: “Wishing you both eternal happiness,” and another contributing: “You two are so cute.”
One admirer commented: “Wishing you the best.”
Appearing in Clarkson’s Farm’s newest series, Harriet has proven to be an invaluable asset to former Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson at Diddly Squat Farm, stepping up when beloved cast member Kaleb Cooper set off on a national tour.
Audiences have applauded Harriet for showing fervour for country life and proving that ‘girly girls’ like herself are just as capable with machinery and livestock as the men.
However, her stint on the show was brief due to Kaleb’s comeback, leaving her eager fanbase wanting more.
To the delight of her fans, she keeps them updated with videos of her daily escapades online, gathering millions of views.
Harriet first encountered her partner James at a Young Farmers’ Meeting back in 2018.

Sharing a recent social media post, Harriet uploaded a clip featuring James behind the wheel of a tractor, playfully alluding to their age gap with him being four years her senior. In a separate update, she reflected: “The ‘butterfly effect’ is crazy because if I didn’t join Young Farmers, we’d never have met.”
She concluded by expressing her gratitude: “YFC gave me my whole life and for that I will be forever grateful!” and encouraged others to get involved in community groups, assuring they will “meet the greatest people”.
Meanwhile, back in Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire, on the show, Harriet bid an emotional farewell to Jeremy as Kaleb returned.
The presenter, famed for his 25-year tenure over two periods on Top Gear, expressed his heartfelt thanks to Harriet: “You saved my life. So, if we get stuck again, can we give you a call?”
