Countryfile’s Adam Henson addresses ‘theatrical’ Jeremy Clarkson show

Clarkson’s Farm on Prime Video has been a huge hit with viewers since it first aired back in 2021

Countryfile host Adam Henson has offered his perspective on fellow agriculturalist Jeremy Clarkson, who runs a 1,000-acre farm in Chipping Norton.

The ex-Top Gear frontman acquired the Oxfordshire property in 2008 and took over its operations in 2019, following the retirement of the former villager who had managed it.

The estate, famously dubbed Diddly Squat Farm, has achieved nationwide recognition and international fame through his popular Prime Video series Clarkson’s Farm.

Jeremy has also established a public house on his property, called The Farmer’s Dog, which regularly appears in the show, currently in its fifth series.

Adam, himself a well-known farmer, recently discussed Jeremy’s influence on the agricultural sector while speaking to The Oxford Mail.

The BBC broadcaster stated: “It seems to me from the people around him and from his own voice that he’s really found a passion in farming.

“He’s a great advocate for British agriculture, and he’s tied up with some great people who work on the programme with him.

“Clarkson’s Farm is very funny, it’s quite theatrical in the way it’s produced, but it’s brought agriculture and farming to a whole new section of society.”

The Countryfile presenter added: “And for me as a farmer who loves telling the story about British agriculture, you’ve now got programmes like Countryfile and Clarkson’s Farm, you’ve got YouTubers, you’ve got people on Instagram.”

The 60-year-old presenter, who operates a 650-hectare farm in the Cotswolds, also expressed his respect for anyone who can “help educate the consumer and the British public” about farming culture, reports the Express.

Clarkson’s Farm made its return to screens earlier this month, and characteristically, Jeremy doesn’t hold back from showcasing the harsh truths of farm management.

Throughout this series, the 66-year-old undergoes cardiac surgery in hospital and needs several weeks to recover.

Additionally, his property suffers significant damage from a fierce storm, while he continues to struggle with the emotional toll of sending his livestock to slaughter.
