Harriet Cowan Claps Back at Fans, Defends Her Looks
Clarkson’s Farm breakout star Harriet Cowan defended her ‘makeup and hair’ as she hit back at abuse she’s received online.
She’s the breakout star of the latest series of Jeremy Clarkson’s hit Amazon Prime Video show, Clarkson’s Farm. But Harriet Cowan, 24, has hit back at a wave of abuse she’s faced online this week, defending her ‘makeup and hair’ as she mucks in on the farm and goes to deliver talks on life as a female farmer.
Harriet starred in the recent series/season 4 of Clarkson’s Farm alongside Jeremy Clarkson, his girlfriend Lisa Hogan and old favourite Kaleb Cooper. While Kaleb was away touring his national show across the country, Jeremy called in nurse/farmer Harriet from Derbyshire to help muck in.
Since then, Harriet has rocketed to fame and gained a huge following on social media – but it’s not been without its downsides.
On Monday, Harriet took to Instagram to hit back at comments about her looks she’d seen on her posts after she announced she would give a talk on farming.
She plucked out examples of comments which said: “She has never been a real farmer and is attempting to be a media star. As you say it’s a bit insulting to the real farm girls.
“None I have ever known apply full make up and get their hair done to drive a tractor.”
Another said: “I’m sure there are more informative speakers that would shed some on how to navigate farming.”
And a third said: “Personally I think ‘fame’ has gone to her head!!! Loads of her posts that pop up on Facebook are just so not necessary. People have been farming for years and still do without all the attention. They just get on with it!”
Harriet then posted a long message in reply which said: “Just want to say I’m going to lamma to look at machinery, yes I’m doing a panel about females in farming, but I think I earn the right to do so when day in day out I work just the same as every other farmer covered in s***, who cares if I wear makeup or not, I don’t care if you have a haircut or not, I have farmed alongside my granddad and dad I genuinely love it, this is my job and it’s again only because I’m a girl… come on, I have been quiet because I think if I don’t share so much I won’t get the comments but they still come, remember we are real people.”

Last summer, agency Off Limits Entertainment announced it had signed Harriet up thanks to her national TV success.
They wrote: “Harriet gained national attention for her expertise, quick wit, and genuine passion for agriculture.
“In addition to her national television success, Harriet has cultivated a rapidly growing online community across platforms like TikTok and Instagram, where she shares authentic and engaging insights into rural life, farming challenges, and the realities of modern agriculture.
“Harriet’s background as a qualified nurse and her role as a spokesperson for young farmers makes her a relatable figure in the farming community and beyond.”
