Jeremy Clarkson Asks Gunship Crews to Help Dry His Wheat

Jeremy Clarkson has delivered a typically cheeky message aimed at military helicopter pilots flying over his famous Diddly Squat Farm in Oxfordshire.

The veteran broadcaster, best known for his motoring expertise on the BBC’s Top Gear and later on Prime Video’s The Grand Tour, has been a household name for over two decades alongside his long-time co-presenters James May and Richard Hammond. But in recent years, Clarkson has shifted gears—quite literally—turning his attention to farming after purchasing Diddly Squat Farm in Chadlington back in 2008.

Since 2021, the farm has taken centre stage in the hit Prime Video series Clarkson’s Farm, which has so far run for four seasons and captured both the triumphs and the countless headaches of rural life. Viewers have watched Clarkson wrestle with everything from stubborn council regulations to unpredictable weather, as well as more unexpected disruptions—such as drones and low-flying aircraft—interrupting filming.

The latest of these interruptions took place on Wednesday, July 30, when Clarkson claimed that “Apache gunships” were soaring over west Oxfordshire, rattling through the skies above his land. Rather than grumble, the 65-year-old took to X (formerly Twitter) to make a tongue-in-cheek request to the pilots:

“If you’re flying the Apache gunships over Diddly Squat today, can you hover over the wheat for a bit? It still needs drying.”

Clarkson is currently in the midst of filming the eagerly anticipated fifth season of Clarkson’s Farm, which was officially confirmed at the end of last year. While Prime Video has yet to announce a release date, speculation among fans points to a likely premiere in 2026.

If past seasons are anything to go by, viewers can expect more laughs, more drama, and, apparently, the occasional cameo from the British military.
