Jeremy Clarkson Baffled by One Thing as He Admits ‘Exasperation’ with Kaleb Cooper
Jeremy Clarkson has been working on Diddly Squat Farm with Kaleb Cooper for the past four years but the TV star admits he is often “exasperated” by his farm manager
TV personality Jeremy Clarkson has confessed that one thing about his Clarkson’s Farm co-star Kaleb Cooper leaves him feeling “exasperated”.
Kaleb has been lending a hand at Jeremy’s Diddly Squat Farm since 2021, as the former Top Gear presenter attempts to master the intricacies of running a functioning farm.
Jeremy, 65, interacts with his farm manager on most days but disclosed that “it’s often difficult to get a conversation going” due to Kaleb’s general knowledge, or lack thereof.
The host stated that while Kaleb’s farming expertise is unparalleled, he finds it “exasperating” that Kaleb is unfamiliar with legendary rock band Fleetwood Mac.
He also hasn’t heard of actor Robert De Niro or composer Mozart, and reportedly has never seen a James Bond film, reports the Express.
In his latest book, Diddly Squat: The Farmer’s Dog, he wrote: “I see Kaleb Cooper, my farm manager, most days but it’s often difficult to get a conversation going.
“It’s not that he’s thick. He really isn’t. You can ask him how much diesel you’ll need in a 150-horsepower tractor to clear 40 bales from a nine-acre field and he’ll know in an instant.
“But he’s never heard of Robert De Niro. And he’s never watched a James Bond film.
“It transpired last week that’s he’s never heard of Fleetwood Mac, and I found this exasperating. He tried to argue that they were before his time. ‘Yes, but so was Mozart,’ I thundered. ‘Who’s Mozart?’ he replied.”
Kaleb emerged as the standout personality of the hit Amazon Prime programme Clarkson’s Farm, with viewers adoring the rapport between Jeremy and his young colleague.
Throughout the series, Kaleb primarily guides his employer on the intricacies of operating machinery whilst assisting with various duties across the farm.
Kaleb has subsequently published several books, and during the fourth series took a break from filming to travel nationwide presenting his solo performance, The World According to Kaleb. Harriet Cowan temporarily filled his role.
Despite their strong friendship, it appears Jeremy and Kaleb possess markedly contrasting characteristics.
The former Grand Tour presenter seemed distinctly unimpressed by Kaleb’s broader awareness, implying that his knowledge of the Ukraine conflict stems solely from its effect on fertiliser costs.
Jeremy added: “Naturally, he has little interest in world affairs. He is aware of the war in Ukraine but only because it affected the price of fertiliser. Gaza, though? He won’t have heard of that, and I think he’d struggle to name both candidates in the coming elections.
“He’s not even that clued up on events closer to home. Let’s not forget that when he met Rishi Sunak, he thought he was the president. And that his name was Ricky.”
