Jeremy Clarkson breaks silence over customer backlash to Farmer’s Dog pub prices
The Clarkson’s Farm star has hit back at complaints over the cost of food and drink in his new pub
Jeremy Clarkson hasn’t held back his acerbic point of view once again, hitting back at reports of complaints over the prices in his pub.
The 65-year-old opened The Farmer’s Dog last year and catalogued its chaotic launch on the Amazon Prime series Clarkson’s Farm.
Fans lined up to get into the pub at its launch, with more fans pouring in after season 4 premiered, but some were floored by the prices.
One such example is Amy Robinson, 20, who shared her culinary experience on TikTok, rating the food a perfect “10/10” and praising its deliciousness.
While she gave the venue a glowing review, her followers were quick to ask about prices.
In response to their queries, she said: “I had sausage of the day and it was £21.00.”
Another chimed in with their own experience, adding: “It’s on their website. We went there and I think a pie was like £24.00.
“Fancy sausage and mash was around the £20.00 mark. Drinks were around £7.00.”
There have been many such examples of his kind of discourse online, and finally Jeremy has stepped in to justify the prices.
Taking to X, he wrote: “With free will you can literally choose what to spend your money on, so why do some have to moan.
“Supporting local economy, Providing local jobs and supporting British farmers, all while providing a public service!
“Prices reflect the quality of the food and service which is excellent!”
His followers were quick to defend the pub’s prices, with many acknowledging the level of service and atmosphere on offer at the location.
One wrote: “I’m guessing they’ve never eaten at a restaurant in the City of London.”
Another added: “No one forcing them to go. Go back to spoons if you want cheap crap.”
A third said: “£7 for a pint is reasonable. People come to Cornwall on holiday and spend £15-20 on fish and chips from one of Rick Steins restaurants. Like you say. You pay the price for the stuff you want to eat.”
