Jeremy Clarkson calls Peter Mandelson ‘ghastly little weasel’
Jeremy Clarkson has slammed Peter Mandelson as a “ghastly little weasel”.
The TV star owns two businesses in Oxfordshire, with Diddly Squat Farm in Chadlington and The Farmer’s Dog pub in Astall near Burford.
Known for his appearances on Clarkson’s Farm, The Grand Tour and Top Gear, Mr Clarkson isn’t often one to mince his words.
Sharing his latest opinion this afternoon (Friday, February 6), the 65-year-old has described Peter Mandelson as a “ghastly little weasel”.
A criminal investigation was launched this week into allegations that Lord Peter Mandelson passed market-sensitive information to paedophile financier Jeffrey Epstein.
Files released by the US Department of Justice apparently showed Lord Mandelson passing material to Epstein while serving as business secretary in Gordon Brown’s Labour administration as it dealt with the 2008 financial crash and its aftermath.
The Cabinet Office had passed material to the police after an initial review of documents released as part of the so-called Epstein files found they contained “likely market-sensitive information” and official handling safeguards had been “compromised”.
Now, Mr Clarkson has given his opinion on Mandelson, taking to the social media site X to share his thoughts on the matter.
Peter Mandelson.
A user posted an old clip from Top Gear showing the 65-year-old speaking about the politician in the past.
Accompanying the video, the poster wrote: “Jeremy Clarkson years ahead of everyone again on Peter Mandelson.
“His genius sometimes… it’s almost frightening.”

Mr Clarkson replied with a putdown of Mandelson and added: “I hated him so much then. And even more so now. Ghastly little weasel.”
Earlier this week, Commander Ella Marriott of the Metropolitan Police said: “Following the further release of millions of court documents in relation to Jeffrey Epstein by the United States Department of Justice, the Met received a number of reports into alleged misconduct in public office, including a referral from the UK Government.
“I can confirm that the Metropolitan Police has now launched an investigation into a 72-year-old man, a former Government minister, for misconduct in public office offences.
“The Met will continue to assess all relevant information brought to our attention as part of this investigation and won’t be commenting any further at this time.”
A Government spokesperson said: “The Government stands ready to provide whatever support and assistance the police need.”
Tory leader Kemi Badenoch said it was “right” that an investigation was launched, but told broadcasters it “should not distract from the fact that the Prime Minister appointed a man who was the close friend and associate of a notorious and convicted paedophile”.
Lord Mandelson quit the House of Lords earlier this week.
