Jeremy Clarkson Condemns False Online Claims About Clarkson’s Farm Favourite Gerald Cooper

Jeremy Clarkson has publicly dismissed a wave of false online claims concerning Gerald Cooper, describing the rumours as distressing, irresponsible and entirely untrue.

In recent days, social media posts circulating on platforms including Facebook suggested that Cooper, a popular figure on Clarkson’s Farm, had been taken seriously ill. Some posts went further, prompting widespread concern among fans. Clarkson has now confirmed that none of the claims have any basis in fact.

Writing in his regular column for The Sun, Clarkson said multiple fabricated stories had appeared online within a single week, many designed to look credible. Alongside the false claims about Cooper, he said other posts wrongly alleged personal events involving fellow cast members and himself.

Clarkson said what made the situation particularly troubling was the apparent realism of the material being shared. He noted that the stories were often accompanied by convincing images, making them difficult for casual readers to immediately dismiss.

Gerald Cooper, a dry-stone waller based at Diddly Squat Farm near Chadlington in Oxfordshire, became a fan favourite following his appearances on the Amazon Prime Video series. His deep knowledge of traditional countryside skills and his distinctive way of speaking quickly made him one of the programme’s most recognisable personalities.

Clarkson said Cooper is not accustomed to public attention and finds the spread of such false claims upsetting, especially given the possibility that family members could encounter them online. He urged those responsible for creating and sharing the content to stop, warning that misinformation of this kind can cause real harm.

Despite the online speculation, Clarkson confirmed that both he and Cooper remain actively involved with the programme. Filming for the fifth series of Clarkson’s Farm concluded in September 2025, with the new season expected to air later this year on Amazon Prime Video. The upcoming series will consist of eight new episodes and continue to follow life and work at Diddly Squat Farm.

For viewers concerned by recent posts, Clarkson’s message was clear: Gerald Cooper is well and continues to be part of the Clarkson’s Farm team.
