Jeremy Clarkson has admitted he’s ‘genuinely frightened’ to take a break from filming.
Jeremy Clarkson has confessed he’s “genuinely frightened” about taking a break from filming, following the enormous success of his Amazon Prime Video show, Clarkson’s Farm.
The 65-year-old broadcaster has been a familiar face on British television through programmes such as Top Gear and Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?, and won over a fresh wave of fans when his farming series debuted in 2021.
Alongside Kaleb Cooper, he’s documented the mayhem of managing his Diddly Squat farm in Oxfordshire, highlighting both the triumphs and tribulations of agricultural life whilst championing farmers nationwide.
Since launching his farm shop and pub last year, Clarkson has been candid about the “disasters” he’s encountered, from his own health struggles to the devastating impact of a bovine tuberculosis outbreak on his herd, reports Wales Online.
Whilst a fifth series is yet to be broadcast—anticipated to arrive next spring—Clarkson and his farming colleagues are preparing to take a pause.
He’d previously outlined his intentions beyond series five, explaining: “Whatever happens we’ll definitely take a short break as the crews are all worn out. We’ve been filming here two or three days a week, every week, for five years. Everybody could do with a rest.”
Nevertheless, he’s now revealed just how anxious he feels about pausing production, as he prepares for his forthcoming ITV quiz programme, Millionaire Hot Seat.
Based on the Australian format, this fresh take on the beloved game show features six competitors in a revolving “hot seat”, who must progress up a prize ladder by correctly answering questions.
In a press release ahead of his new show’s launch next month, Clarkson revealed why he continues to work, admitting: “You would rot if you didn’t. I’m genuinely frightened because until March, I won’t be filming a TV show for the first time in forty years. That will be three months of ‘sh*t’.”
Clarkson also provided an update on his health, following his revelation in October 2024 that he was “days from death” after a terrifying health scare during a holiday led to emergency surgery and the fitting of a life-saving stent.
He disclosed that he has shed three stone since January, saying: “I still really look forward to going out to eat, but I am very careful not to snack on biscuits or anything like that too as that fills you up. I’m looking forward to going out tonight and having a curry.”
He further noted that his weight loss has improved his overall wellbeing, stating: “I walk further, I have got more energy and now I’ve got my stents in, I’m energised.”
