JEREMY CLARKSON REACTS TO ENGLAND’S 0-0 DRAW AFTER CALLING SAKA ‘A DEFENDER’ IN PRE-MATCH VIDEO

THE SUN’S new footie man Jeremy Clarkson has given a verdict on England’s frustrating 0-0 draw with Ghana after a hilarious pre-match video saw him brand Saka a defender.

Jeremy, 66, swapped farming for football as he tries his hand at being a football correspondent for The Sun.

And in three hilarious videos filmed with son Finlo, he’s run the rule over the Three Lions in his own inimitable style.

After the final whistle blew, a disappointed Jeremy said: “That was a long way to come for nil – all.”

But, offering some words of encouragement in the face of disappointment, an ever-positive Jezza reminded Three Lions fans: “Nobody wins every single match.”

Earlier, speaking from the stands at half-time, Jezza provided Thomas Tuchel‘s side with some keen tactical advice – urging the England lads to get on the offensive and break the deadlock with Ghana.

The Clarkson’s Farm star told his son Finlo: “I think Thomas Tuchel has to work out a way to break their defence down to force them to go a bit more attacking and then hopefully we can get more of a game.

“It’s not like I’ve come a long way, no wait I have come a long way.”

He went on: “Come on England, come on. Who’s this one here? Anthony Gordon. Man up, mate, man up.

“I don’t know Rashford may need to come on. Never thought I’d say that in my life but there we are. I’m calling for Marcus Rashford. I don’t know, I’m not a football manager, I don’t know what I’m talking about.”

Summing up his expert tactical advice, Clarkson said: “I just think we need to be a bit more brutal. This lot down here, the Ghana fans are brilliant and I’m not surprised.”

In an earlier clip on way to the Gillette Stadium in Boston, it seemed Jezza had a few small gaps in his football knowledge.

Jezza, who this week revealed he is in remission from prostate cancer. was accused of “knowing nothing” about the beautiful game by his son.

In a quickfire quiz, Clarkson was asked who England’s all-time top goalscorer was and incorrectly replied Gary Lineker, changed his answer to Wayne Rooney – before he was told it was none other than captain, Harry Kane.

The third question saw him asked to name who the England manager was before Tuchel, to which the Clarkson’s Farm star said correctly by saying, Gareth Southgate.

But it was his knowledge of the current England team that had The Sun’s sports desk the most worried.

Asked to name three defenders in the current England squad, he picked out Harry Maguire, Jordan Pickford and Arsenal stars Declan Rice and Bukayo Saka.

Finlo was heard quipping: “And you want to get a job as a football correspondent”, before Jezza correctly answered Reece James.

He was unable to name two others, and joked, “yeah I am a fraud.”

Clarkson added: “There’s plenty of people on The Sun who know about football. They can do the football and I’ll do the what it’s like to be in Boston.”

Asked about what it is like in Boston, he said: “Drizzly and cold and annoying to be here a week after the Scottish were here because everyone goes around saying that was so much fun.”

Later, he met up with England legend David Beckham at the stadium as well as Game of Thrones star Kit Harrington – the original and best King of the North, in a week in which Andy Burnham has his eyes on a throne.

Generous Clarkson also gave two lucky England fans a pair of tickets to the game.

He said: “Here I am in Boston for the match. I am trying to handle being a football correspondent for The Sun.

“I have two tickets for the match from them and it’s raining, so I thought I don’t want to be outside, so I’ll give them away and be in a posh box.”

Jezza then revealed he had found two England supporters, Gary and Derry, who he was giving the tickets for the game to.

Derry said: “Very appreciative of them,” before adding they had been trying all morning to get some tickets.

Clarkson beamed with a smile as he said: “Absolute pleasure, enjoy the match chaps.”
