Jeremy Clarkson has shed light on a little-known rule at his ever-popular Diddly Squat Farm Shop in Oxfordshire — a revelation that surprised many of his fans.
The former Top Gear host, now celebrated for his turn as a farmer in the hit Prime Video series Clarkson’s Farm, has owned the 1,000-acre Diddly Squat Farm in Chadlington since 2008. Over the years, the property has become one of the most recognizable farms in Britain, drawing visitors from across the country eager to experience the rustic charm and humor seen on screen.
Clarkson and his partner, Lisa Hogan, first opened the Diddly Squat Farm Shop in 2020. What started as a small local business selling farm-grown produce, homemade goods, and Hawkstone beer has since exploded into a full-blown tourist attraction, complete with long queues, sold-out shelves, and a cult-like fan following. The success has even prompted expansion — in 2024, the couple launched a pop-up version of the shop on the grounds of their pub, The Farmer’s Dog, in nearby Asthall, which opened its doors to great fanfare in August.
But amid the lighthearted chaos of farm visitors, cider tastings, and selfie-seeking fans, Clarkson recently took to social media to clarify one of the few hard-and-fast rules at Diddly Squat Farm Shop — and it involves our four-legged friends.

It all began when a fan posted a photo on X (formerly Twitter), showing herself holding her tired dog while waiting patiently in the queue outside the farm shop. “Tired little doggy waiting in the queue for the farm shop,” she wrote, tagging Clarkson in the post.
The TV personality responded warmly with a simple “Aww,” acknowledging the adorable snapshot. However, another user quickly chimed in, commenting: “Dogs aren’t allowed in Diddly Squat Farm Shop.”
Rather than ignore the claim, Clarkson took the opportunity to set the record straight — and his explanation was as concise as it was revealing. “Government rules,” he replied, confirming that the restriction isn’t his personal choice but a regulation beyond his control.

The rule likely relates to health and safety laws concerning the sale of fresh food products, which prohibit animals from entering certain retail spaces. It’s a reminder that even at Diddly Squat, where chaos and charm reign supreme, bureaucracy still finds its way onto the farm.
Meanwhile, Clarkson’s Clarkson’s Farm series continues to dominate Prime Video’s lineup. Filming for Season 5 officially wrapped last month, and the episodes are now in post-production. Although an official release date has yet to be announced, fans can expect the new season to follow the same pattern as previous ones — likely premiering in spring 2026.
With new challenges, fresh farming adventures, and Clarkson’s signature blend of humor and frustration, the next season promises to deliver another unforgettable chapter in the ongoing saga of Diddly Squat.
