Jeremy Clarkson Reveals Ongoing Struggles at Diddly Squat as Setback Continues
Jeremy Clarkson has spoken openly about another deeply upsetting setback at his Oxfordshire farm, sharing his sense of loss after one more animal from his herd was no longer able to be saved.
The former Top Gear and The Grand Tour presenter bought Chadlington’s Diddly Squat Farm back in 2008. Spanning roughly 1,000 acres, the land was initially rented out, before Clarkson decided in 2019 to take on the day-to-day running of the farm himself — a decision that later became the foundation of the hit Amazon series Clarkson’s Farm.
Since its launch, the programme has offered viewers an unfiltered look at the realities of modern British farming, balancing humour with genuine hardship. Filmed entirely on location, the series has so far produced four seasons, with a fifth already confirmed and in development for Amazon Prime Video.
In 2025, the farm encountered a serious challenge when bovine tuberculosis was identified within the cattle herd. Under strict agricultural regulations, the discovery required the affected animals to be separated, with repeated failed tests leading to irreversible outcomes — a process familiar to many livestock farmers across the UK.
In October, Clarkson shared that one infected cow had been lost, alongside two unborn calves, describing the experience as profoundly upsetting. The incident resonated strongly with rural communities, where similar situations are a grim but all-too-common reality.
Now, Clarkson has confirmed that the situation has worsened. Posting on Instagram on Saturday, January 31, he shared an image from the farm with a brief but heavy caption: “Sad day on the farm. We lost another cow.” The understated message reflected the emotional weight of the moment, without needing further explanation.
Support quickly poured in from viewers of the show, fellow farmers, and fans who have followed Clarkson’s agricultural journey since it began. Many shared their own experiences of livestock losses, expressing solidarity and understanding of how difficult such moments can be.
One supporter wrote that they had recently gone through a similar experience with their own animals, describing it as heartbreaking. Another praised Clarkson and his team for the care they show their livestock, adding hope that the staff surrounding the farm would be able to work through the challenges ahead and protect the remaining herd.
The incident underlines one of the central themes of Clarkson’s Farm: that behind the entertainment and success of the series lies a profession defined by uncertainty, responsibility, and emotional strain — realities that Clarkson has increasingly acknowledged as he continues his life as a working farmer.
