Jeremy Clarkson shares emotional update with Lisa Hogan over puppies
The Clarkson’s Farm family has shared an emotional update about some of the most adored members of Diddly Squat Farm. Jeremy Clarkson and his partner Lisa Hogan took to Instagram with a bittersweet announcement, revealing that their household has become noticeably quieter and smaller with the departure of their fox-red Labrador Arya’s puppies.
Posting a touching video montage on both of their accounts, the pair showed the puppies meeting their new owners for the very first time. The clip, set to James Blunt’s famously sentimental ballad Goodbye My Lover, captured the tender moments as each pup left the farm to begin life with its new family. Alongside the video, the couple captioned: “Goodbye my puppies, goodbye my friends, we have loved you so much.”
It marks the end of an emotional journey that began on July 27, the very day the Lionesses triumphed in the Women’s Euros final. While football fans across the country celebrated, Clarkson and Hogan were busy at Diddly Squat helping Arya bring 11 puppies into the world. Acting as midwives, they supported the mother throughout the delivery, and the following weeks saw their social media feeds filled with joyous updates of the growing litter.

Yet, as is often the case in farming and animal care, the highs were tempered by moments of sadness. Only days after announcing the litter, Clarkson shared the devastating news that one of the puppies had died. The update was later echoed by Lisa, who, on August 3, posted a heartfelt video of Arya surrounded by her surviving offspring. In the clip, she praised Arya’s resilience and revealed how demanding those early days had been.
“So, we are seven days on,” Lisa explained, “about half of you would have been born now so maybe eight of you would have been born. We have 11, or 12, but one died. But Arya is being amazing. She’s coming out for walks with her sister which is good, otherwise she just wants to be with her little offspring.”
Lisa also revealed that one of the puppies had been born significantly smaller than the rest of the litter. As the runt, it required special attention and had to be handfed regularly to ensure it gained weight and kept pace with its siblings. “I’ve been handfeeding this one because she’s the lightest,” Lisa said, “but I’ve just weighed them all and they’ve all put on a bit of weight, and some of them have doubled.”
By the end of August, however, the couple faced another hurdle. On August 30, Clarkson shared that Arya had developed mastitis, a painful condition that inflames the mammary glands. With so many hungry puppies competing for milk, Arya was overwhelmed. Clarkson explained: “To stop the puppies trying to get on a teat, we had to move her out of their pen. This has sent her into such a spiral of despair that all she does all day is stare at the floor — or wander round the garden digging up every single one of the plants we have.”
The ordeal was a challenging one for both mother and owners, and Arya’s sadness was evident in the farewell video as she looked despondent watching her puppies leave. Clarkson and Hogan could be seen comforting her as the dogs went off to their new homes, ensuring fans that although it was a sad day, every puppy was going to a safe and loving family.
But amidst the heartbreak came a glimmer of joy. On September 14, Clarkson delighted his 9.5 million Instagram followers with news of a new addition to the Diddly Squat household. Posting a picture of himself cradling a tiny golden puppy, he simply captioned the shot: “Meet Margarey.”
The introduction of Margarey marks the beginning of a new chapter for Clarkson, Hogan, and Arya, offering some comfort after the emotional rollercoaster of the past few months. For fans of Clarkson’s Farm, the story serves as another poignant reminder of the realities of country life—where moments of triumph and tenderness are often intertwined with loss and challenge.
