Jeremy Clarkson Shares Secret to Happy Romance with Lisa Hogan: ‘We Go Our Separate Ways’

Jeremy Clarkson has offered fans a rare glimpse into his personal life, opening up about how he and his long-term partner, Lisa Hogan, manage to balance love, work, and daily life on Clarkson’s Farm.

The 65-year-old broadcaster is now four seasons into the hit Prime Video show, which follows his journey at Diddly Squat Farm in the Cotswolds. Alongside Kaleb Cooper, the straight-talking farmhand who has become a fan favourite, Clarkson is also joined by Lisa, 52, who runs the farm shop and has become a key part of the series.

While many couples might find the constant overlap of work and personal life difficult, Clarkson insists that the arrangement works for them. Speaking to The Telegraph, he explained:

“It’s all good. It’s not like we’re doing the same thing all the time. I think it’s a happy way to live — to have breakfast together, go our separate ways, and then you’ve got plenty to talk about in the evening.”

For Clarkson, the farm also provides a welcome shift from his former TV life. “It’s the real me on the farm show,” he said. “There’s no Top Gear nonsense. It’s much more relaxing not to play a part.”

According to the couple, the secret to keeping their spark alive lies in creating space for individuality while still sharing a common purpose. Clarkson explained that having separate tasks during the day means their conversations never run dry:

“You can go out for dinner and you don’t sit like normal old people, not talking to each other. There’s always something new to say.”

A Modern Romance, On Their Own Terms

Jeremy and Lisa first met at a party through mutual friends, and what began as a casual connection has now blossomed into an eight-year relationship. Despite their strong bond, Lisa has always been clear that she has no plans to change her surname or have children with Clarkson.

In an interview with Fabulous magazine back in 2022, she explained:

“Mrs Clarkson? No, thank you. I like Lisa Hogan. We’re at a stage where we are not going to have kids. I’m just happy pootling along. I think because of our age, it’s much easier. You go, ‘God, is it you I end up with? OK, that’s it’.”

Lisa, who was married for thirty years to millionaire businessman Baron Steven Bentinck and has three grown-up children from that marriage, admits she was cautious at the start of her relationship with Clarkson. Having just come out of long-term commitments, both she and Jeremy — who has three children from his marriage to Frances Cain — took time to make sure they were serious about one another.

She recalled:

“We’d both come out of quite long-term relationships, and I was really happy being single. So I was like, ‘If I’m not going to be single any more, I don’t want to be with a messer’. I had given myself three months, but it was way before that when I thought, ‘OK, I really like this person’.”

A Partnership of Equals

Lisa, a former actress, has proved to be much more than just Jeremy’s partner. On Clarkson’s Farm, she is often the voice of calm reason, balancing Jeremy’s fiery personality with her grounded perspective. Her quick wit has also charmed audiences.

She admits, though, that life with Clarkson is never dull:

“He has a laser brain and will take you down. And that’s where the fun and the challenge is with him, trying to take him down.”

Clarkson, for his part, seems equally appreciative of Lisa’s sharpness and independence, qualities that allow their relationship to thrive both on and off the screen.

Life After Love Lessons

Jeremy Clarkson has been married twice before — first to Alexandra James, and then to Frances Cain, with whom he shares three children: Emily, 30, Finlo, 27, and Katya, 24. Lisa, meanwhile, is content to remain Hogan, comfortable in her own skin and in the life they’ve built together.

Rather than rushing into tradition or reinvention, the couple have crafted a modern relationship that works for them — one rooted in mutual respect, shared laughter, and plenty of spirited debates.

After eight years together, their love story continues to unfold against the picturesque backdrop of the Cotswolds, proving that even amid the chaos of tractors, livestock, and farm shops, there’s still room for romance.
