Jeremy Clarkson Takes a Break from TV After 40 Years, Faces Three Months Off Screen
After four decades of dominating television, Jeremy Clarkson is stepping away from filming for the first time in his career. The Clarkson’s Farm star, who has been a household name since joining Top Gear in 1988, revealed he’s “genuinely frightened” by the idea of a three-month break. Known for his constant work on shows like Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? and The Grand Tour, Clarkson is now taking time off from all his active series.
For Clarkson, 65, the decision to pause his work was a major adjustment. “You would rot if you didn’t,” he admitted, acknowledging that after 40 years of constant filming, it’s hard to imagine life without it. However, he expressed a mix of excitement and nervousness about taking time off, something he’s never done in his extensive career.
During his break, Clarkson is also preparing for his new format, Millionaire Hot Seat, a spinoff of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? that will debut in early 2026. The show will feature six contestants in a rotating ‘hot seat,’ where quick thinking and strategic moves are key to winning a cash prize. Clarkson will also return to host 19 new episodes of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire and several celebrity specials, keeping his hands full in the meantime.
In addition to his TV roles, Clarkson has pressed pause on filming Clarkson’s Farm, as he focuses on the farm’s pig breeding season. Fans of the show have been eagerly awaiting its return after the fourth series won a National Television Award. Despite the pause, Clarkson hinted at more seasons, with co-star Kaleb Cooper returning after taking a break for a solo tour.
Clarkson also revealed plans to expand his farming business internationally. Following Kaleb’s move to Australia, Clarkson shared that he’s stepping out of his comfort zone to explore farming contracting in a new climate for a new series. Fans flooded his social media to congratulate Kaleb on his new venture, while Clarkson joked about finally being able to run the farm without him.
While Clarkson enjoys his well-deserved break, it’s clear that his ventures, both on and off screen, are far from over. Fans can look forward to more from the popular star when he returns refreshed and ready for new challenges.
