Jeremy Clarkson takes major step as ‘co-star’ becomes a hit with fans

The TV star looks set to build on the fame of an animal on Clarkson’s Farm, his Prime Video show about life on Diddly Squat Farm

Jeremy Clarkson is apparently hoping his beloved pig Richard Ham will prove to be a lucrative venture.

The pig has achieved TV stardom after the smallest of the litter was rescued from slaughter on the star’s show Clarkson’s Farm. Now the presenter has submitted an application to the UK’s Intellectual Property Office to trademark the moniker.

The former Top Gear and Grand Tour star is seeking to use the pig’s name for clothing, household items, gardening equipment and even recipe books and festive decorations, reports the Daily Star.

The miniature pig captured viewers’ hearts during the fourth series of the hugely popular programme about life on Jeremy’s Diddly Squat Farm.

The diminutive runt touched audiences when he struggled to gain weight and required separation from his fellow piglets to prevent harassment. Jeremy, 65, faced a difficult choice over whether to cull the tiny animal but chose to spare him.

His partner Lisa Hogan recently shared that the pig, named after Jeremy’s former Top Gear colleague Richard Hammond, is thriving more than ever.

Posting on social media to update Clarkson’s Farm fans on his remarkable development, she captioned footage of the pig: “Look who it is!!! It’s Richard ‘porker’ Ham.”

As the now-enormous swine appeared from his pen, she said: “Who recognises this beast?

“It’s Richard Ham. Yes, you’re huge. Yes, it’s because you’ve been hand fed for all these months.”

Jeremy has been swift in attempting to secure trademark protection for numerous names, product titles and catchphrases from the programme.

These encompass ‘Snail Juice’ – a skincare product range – ‘Diddly Squat Drive’, which represents one of the fragrances available in the farm shop, and ‘Grubby Farmer’, Jeremy’s toiletries and scent collection. He has secured trademark rights for ‘I am a f***er’ – emblazoned on t-shirts available through his Diddly Squat Farm Shop website.

Additionally, he imposed protections on ‘I did a thing’ – his signature phrase which gained popularity during the programme.

He has also lodged applications for ‘The Farmer’s Dog’ – his establishment’s name from the show – covering merchandise such as beer mats, glassware and beer pitchers, tea towels, apparel, beer, cider and vodka.

Clarkson’s Farm is available on Amazon Prime.
