Jeremy Clarkson Welcomes Acting Icon Susan George to His Cotswolds Farm

The former Top Gear and Grand Tour presenter, 65, has swapped fast cars for farm life in recent years, running his 1,000-acre estate Diddly Squat Farm in Chadlington, Oxfordshire. Since launching Clarkson’s Farm on Prime Video, he has become one of Britain’s most outspoken advocates for rural life, documenting both the triumphs and frustrations of modern farming with his trademark wit.

But this week, Clarkson showed a softer, nostalgic side as he revealed that he’d hosted a special guest at his countryside retreat. Taking to Instagram on Sunday evening (October 26), he shared a photograph of himself alongside 75-year-old acting legend Susan George, best known for her iconic roles in Straw Dogs (1971) opposite Dustin Hoffman, Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry (1974) with Peter Fonda, and Mandingo (1975) alongside Ken Norton.

In his caption, Clarkson wrote:

“Had a legend over this evening. She’s farming now. Only Boomers will know.”

The post delighted fans, many of whom were thrilled to see two British icons sharing a moment together. Hundreds of comments quickly poured in from followers praising the reunion and paying tribute to George’s legacy.

One fan wrote, “The timeless legendary Susan George!” while another added, “That would be Susan George. She looks fab!”

Even fellow actor Rosie Marcel joined the conversation, commenting, “Susan George. Played my mother in Castle of Adventure! Lovely woman.”

Although best remembered for her film work in the 1970s, Susan George has long since traded Hollywood for horses. In later life, she stepped away from the screen to focus on Equestrian pursuits and horse breeding, running the well-known Georgian Arabians stud farm in Shropshire, which she established with her late husband, actor Simon MacCorkindale.

Clarkson’s post hints that the two share more in common than fame — a deep appreciation for the countryside and the challenges of rural living. His caption, “She’s farming now,” underscores the unlikely bond between two stars who have both reinvented themselves far from the glamour of show business.

The photograph — showing Clarkson beaming beside George in what appears to be his Cotswolds kitchen — quickly went viral among fans of both the actor and the broadcaster, sparking a wave of affectionate nostalgia across social media.

With Clarkson currently between filming for Clarkson’s Farm Series 5 and managing his busy pub, The Farmer’s Dog, the visit from Susan George added a rare touch of old-school celebrity glamour to the rugged daily life at Diddly Squat Farm.

As one follower aptly summed it up:

“Two legends of their own worlds — cars, farming, and cinema — all under one roof.”
