Jeremy Clarkson welcomes new addition to Diddly Squat farm after sharing frustrating update on new series
Fans of Clarkson’s Farm are eagerly awaiting the upcoming fifth season of the hit show, and while they wait, Jeremy Clarkson has given them a sneak peek into his latest addition to Diddly Squat Farm. On Monday, Clarkson took to social media to share an adorable image of a new donkey named Ben. “Please welcome to Diddly Squat. New Ben,” Clarkson wrote on Instagram, introducing the animal to his followers. This new donkey appears to have replaced a previous one named Ben, who, along with his companion Bill, had arrived at the farm in 2025 to enjoy a peaceful retirement.
The timing of this update is significant, coming just as Clarkson has been vocal about the ongoing challenges he’s faced with filming for the show’s sixth season. Fans of the series have been hoping for new episodes, but bad weather and an outbreak of bovine tuberculosis (TB) have halted filming. In an interview with The Sunday Times, Clarkson shared his frustration with the delays, explaining that the weather has made it impossible to plant crops or care for his cows, as the farm is still under lockdown due to the TB outbreak. “There’s no filming happening on the farm at the moment. It hasn’t stopped raining since the beginning of the year, so I can’t plant anything, and I can’t do anything with my cows either because we are still locked down by TB,” he said.
While Clarkson’s farming journey continues to be filled with challenges, the upcoming fifth season of Clarkson’s Farm is expected to focus on the ongoing difficulties the farm has faced due to the bovine tuberculosis outbreak. This season will give viewers an inside look into how Clarkson and his team have been grappling with the effects of the disease on his livestock and the impact it has had on his farming operations.
Clarkson, who bought the farm in 2008, didn’t take on active farming duties until 2019, when he decided to dive headfirst into the world of agriculture, documenting his experiences on Clarkson’s Farm. The show quickly became one of Prime Video’s most popular and widely-watched programs, thanks to Clarkson’s unique perspective, humor, and genuine passion for farming. In July 2024, Clarkson expanded his farming venture further by purchasing The Windmill pub in Asthall, which he renamed The Farmer’s Dog. This move allowed him to further immerse himself in rural life and continue exploring the farming community.
Beyond his television work, Clarkson has also become an outspoken advocate for the farming industry, regularly using his platform to highlight the challenges facing farmers in the UK. Notably, in November 2025, he joined a march near Parliament to protest changes to inheritance tax laws proposed by Chancellor of the Exchequer, Jeremy Reeve. Clarkson has made it a point to showcase the economic struggles that many farmers face on his show, using his influence to draw attention to the realities of farming in modern-day Britain.
As the weather improves and filming resumes, fans can look forward to watching Clarkson tackle the realities of farming, animal care, and the highs and lows of life on Diddly Squat Farm in the upcoming season. Whether it’s dealing with the fallout from the TB outbreak, adding new animals to the farm like New Ben, or navigating the complex challenges of running a rural business, Clarkson’s Farm will continue to provide an insightful and entertaining look into the life of a self-taught farmer.
