clarkson's farm

Jeremy Clarkson’s Cotswolds pub offers dishes made with ingredients sourced just 10 miles away.

Jeremy Clarkson is preparing food for his Cotswolds pub in a kitchen unit on an industrial estate 10 miles away, it has been revealed.

The Farmer’s Dog pub, formerly known as The Windmill in Asthall, was bought by the TV star last year for around £1,000,000.

Since then, many famous faces have stopped by for a pint, including Status Quo drummer John Coghlan.

The boozer has become known across the world thanks to its appearances on Amazon Prime’s Clarkson’s Farm.

From the get-go, Mr Clarkson vowed to only use and serve British produce at the pub, with the website boasting: “Our menu is made entirely with ingredients produced on British farms.

“It’ll change based on what’s in season, but it’ll always be absolutely f***ing delicious.”

However, it has now been revealed by MailOnline that some of the food served in the pub is being prepared in an un-rural setting at a kitchen unit on an industrial site in Eynsham rented by Mr Clarkson.

The kitchen – which is on an anonymous new-build small industrial estate – is being used to prepare a number of food items which are then sent on to the booked out pub.

According to MailOnline, It’s unclear precisely what items are being prepped in the Eynsham unit but they are thought to include vegetables, baked goods and some meats.

The 65-year-old told MailOnline on Saturday (December 13) that he had to buy the unit as the kitchen space at The Farmer’s Dog is too small to cope with demand.

He said: “The problem we have is that the kitchen at the Farmer’s Dog is very small and to enlarge it would mean getting planning permission from the council.

“So we do the basic stuff on some items in a prep-kitchen in Witney.

“I think you’ll find a lot of successful small pubs and restaurants do this. No-one minds so long as the food is good and ours very much is.”

The presenter reiterated to MailOnline that unlike many pubs and restaurants across the country, his kitchens – whether on-site or off – use only British food farmed from their collective of farmers.

And there is no suggestion that he has tried to hide this, with staff for the kitchen unit being openly recruited via local press.

A job advert released two weeks ago explicitly said that Mr Clarkson was looking for more staff to help out in the kitchen in the off-site unit, reports the newspaper.

The revelation comes as Mr Clarkson became the latest publican to ban all Labour MPs from his boozer following the Budget.

Making the bold announcement on X on Saturday, he said: “To be clear, I have banned all Labour MPs from my pub, except one: Markus Campbell Savours.

“He’s welcome any time. And not just because the Labour Party has now sacked him.”
