Jeremy Clarkson’s perfect response to fan’s request at Farmer’s Dog pub
Jeremy Clarkson’s Farmer’s Dog pub has become a popular spot for fans of his Amazon Prime Video show Clarkson’s Farm
Catapulted into the spotlight through the popular programme Clarkson’s Farm, the Farmer’s Dog establishment has emerged as an essential destination in West Oxfordshire. Devoted followers of the show frequently organise excursions to Jeremy Clarkson’s Diddly Squat farm before making their way to his public house for a well-earned beverage.
Previously known as The Windmill, Clarkson acquired the premises for under £1 million in June 2024 before swiftly giving it a makeover, linking it directly to his thriving Amazon Prime programme. Though encountering numerous obstacles since its launch, the venue now teems with visitors from every corner of the country.
This past Saturday (July 19), an admirer contacted the 65-year- old former Top Gear presenter via social media, asking: “Can you open your pub for me about six hours earlier on Monday please? I was gonna visit, but didn’t realise you don’t open till 5.”
Jeremy graciously responded: “Mondays is when our brilliant staff catch their breath.”
The Farmer’s Dog indeed operates from 12pm to 11pm, Tuesday through Saturday, with Sunday hours concluding at 10:30pm, reports the Express.
Understanding the reasoning behind these operating hours, the supporter replied: “Completely understandable. We’ll be back another time to visit! Loving the Riverside festival at the mo!”.
Within the Farmer’s Dog, Clarkson’s personal brewing venture, Hawkstone, features prominently alongside a selection of lagers, IPAs, and ciders on offer. The eatery’s menu is a celebration of classic British cuisine, featuring hearty dishes such as sausage and mash, gammon paired with bubble and squeak, Lancashire hotpot, steak pie, and a delectable vegetable and cheddar crumble.
Venturing beyond the traditional, the pub has unveiled The Tent to provide patrons with an alfresco dining option, while also boasting its own butchery, Hop and Chops, which offers “the finest British-reared and farmed meat”.
In addition, the on-premises Farmer’s Puppy extends its hospitality with a bar and kitchen that delivers a “British farmed and sourced selection of food and drinks”, and visitors have the opportunity to peruse the Diddly Squat farm shop located within the same establishment.
The website proudly announces: “Diddly Squat Farm Shop was Jeremy and Lisa [Hogan, girlfriend]’s brainchild after realising that potatoes did indeed grow well on their farm and they had accidentally produced 40 tonnes of them.
“Get the best of the farm and take it home with you. Whether that’s a bottle of Bee Juice Whiskey or some unbelievable blackberry jam.”
Earlier in the year, Clarkson made it known that his latest project, the Farmer’s Dog, now providing employment for nearly 150 individuals, would be his last business venture.
Speaking to The Times, he expressed: “I’m done with business now. I am not starting another business as long as I live. I don’t understand it and am not motivated by money. I just want a good craic.”
