Jeremy Clarkson, the 65-year-old TV presenter who has been a constant presence on television for decades, has revealed that he is taking a break from TV. The announcement has sparked concern among fans about the future of his popular series, Clarkson’s Farm, leaving the fate of the show up in the air.

Known for his role in motoring shows such as Top Gear and The Grand Tour, Clarkson has enjoyed a long and varied career, branching out into game shows like Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? and more recently with Clarkson’s Farm, a Prime Video series that follows his adventures running Diddly Squat Farm in Chadlington, Oxfordshire. The show has become a hit, showcasing Clarkson’s comedic yet often chaotic approach to farming, drawing in a loyal fanbase eager to see his progress as a farmer. In addition to the farm, Clarkson also operates The Farmer’s Dog pub in Asthall, further cementing his place in rural life.

However, in a recent interview promoting his new ITV show Millionaire Hot Seat, Clarkson expressed his unease about the months ahead, revealing that he is facing an extended break from filming. For the first time in 40 years, he will not be working on a TV show, a prospect that has left him feeling “genuinely frightened.”

“I’m genuinely frightened because until March, I won’t be filming a TV show for the first time in forty years,” Clarkson admitted. “That will be three months of s***. You would rot if you didn’t [work].” The comment came as a shock to many, as Clarkson has long been a fixture on television, with his charismatic presence seen on a variety of platforms and shows.

This announcement also casts a shadow over the future of Clarkson’s Farm, with no new filming scheduled at his Oxfordshire farm this year. While Clarkson’s Farm has seen immense success, it seems that the show will not be continuing as expected. Clarkson himself confirmed in a column for The Sun earlier this year that the team was taking a break, stating: “Are we carrying on? Well, we’ve sent the cameras away to give us a break from that side of things for a while.”

In an earlier conversation with The Times, Clarkson hinted that the show might return for a sixth season, but only if there was a compelling reason to do so. “I’d do a sixth if there was a reason for doing it, like a b****y good story,” he said. “Whatever happens, we’ll definitely take a short break as the crews are all worn out. We’ve been filming here two or three days a week, every week, for five years. Everybody could do with a rest.”

Currently, the fifth season of Clarkson’s Farm has already been filmed, with the episodes in post-production. Fans can expect the new season to be released in the spring of 2026, following the usual pattern of the show’s release schedule. The series will have eight episodes, continuing Clarkson’s exploration of farm life, his attempts to understand the challenges of running a farm, and his unique approach to solving agricultural problems.

Despite the uncertainty surrounding Clarkson’s Farm, Clarkson’s fans will still be able to enjoy his presence on their screens. In January 2026, Millionaire Hot Seat will make its debut on ITV, keeping Clarkson in the public eye, even if it means taking a step back from farming for the time being. The new game show will see Clarkson hosting contestants in a new twist on the classic Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? format, further proving his versatility as a television personality.

In a way, Clarkson’s decision to take a break reflects the pressures of working on a long-running series like Clarkson’s Farm, where the grueling filming schedule and the demands of running a farm can take a toll on the crew. Although fans are eager to see more of his rural adventures, it seems the show’s future is uncertain, with a much-needed break on the horizon for both Clarkson and his crew.

For now, fans will have to wait and see if Clarkson’s Farm will return for more seasons or if the sixth installment will remain a distant dream. Regardless, Clarkson’s enduring appeal ensures he will continue to captivate audiences, whether in front of a farm or a quiz show.
