Kaleb Cooper announces career move away from Clarkson’s Farm
Kaleb Cooper has been at Jeremy Clarkson’s side since the beginning of his farming journey on Amazon Prime’s Clarkson’s Farm, but he’s recently been forced to take a step back
Kaleb Cooper, famed for his role on Clarkson’s Farm, has divulged his ambitions for a new career direction beyond the realm of television.
The 26 year old farm labourer has won over hearts as a fan favourite on the Amazon Prime reality show which documents Jeremy Clarkson’s endeavours to manage his Oxfordshire farm, Diddly Squat.
Throughout the series, Kaleb is frequently embroiled in the pandemonium as Jeremy, 65, and known for his past work on Top Gear, wrestles with farm blunders, adverse weather conditions, handling his animals, right through to the trials of opening an on-site farm shop and, more recently, launching The Farmer’s Dog pub.
Riding the wave of popularity from the show, Kaleb – who is expecting his third child – has encountered numerous possibilities ranging from encounters with ex-Prime Minister Rishi Sunak to authoring books and setting out on tours.
In a discussion about branching out from agriculture, during Thursday’s episode of This Morning, hosted by Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard, Kaleb spoke of his aspiration to pen a children’s book, reports Gloucestershire Live.
He explained: “I’ve written three books, and I thought to myself that I wanted to try and write a fourth and actually try and target the younger audience.
“I think it’s important that we should start teaching these kids farming in school, so I want to try and run something with the promotion of my fourth book that comes out later this year, and try and get farming taught in schools and teach these kids where their food comes from.”
He asserted: “To me, it’s the most important job in the world because it’s what is keeping you alive on a day-to-day basis.”
Despite his fervour for agriculture, Kaleb has had to take a step back in the latest instalment of Clarkson’s Farm as he balanced his regular farming duties with his tour commitments.
In his absence, Jeremy enlisted the help of a new assistant, Harriet Cowan, who is both a full-time nurse and farmer.
Following hints of Harriet’s involvement in the show’s trailer, Kaleb felt compelled to assure viewers that he hadn’t been replaced or abandoned Jeremy “high and dry”.
He set the record straight on This Morning: “I’m still involved, yeah. There’s lots of rumours going out that I’ve been replaced but I’m still here.
“And of course Harriet stepped in as I jumped away on tour, so I’m very grateful that Harriet came along and saved the day.”
Kaleb has openly discussed his aspirations to eventually channel his earnings into acquiring a farm of his own.
He has expressed his passion for the agricultural lifestyle to Farming Life before, saying: “Farming is not a job for me, it is a way of life and I love that way of life. My dream is to buy my own farm and that is what I am aiming towards”.
